Dubai RTA Launches Community Initiatives In Celebration Of Ramadan
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched an array of humanitarian and community-driven initiatives titled "Journey of Good" to commemorate the Holy Month of Ramadan. This campaign, in collaboration with volunteers from both the RTA and Keolis, the operator of Dubai Metro and Tram, is designed to foster greater community engagement and teamwork. The initiatives aim to benefit a broad section of the community, including the RTA's employees, bus, delivery bikers, truck drivers, workers, and Abra riders, by hosting a range of Ramadan-focused activities, events, and initiatives.
'Modes Of Good' Initiative
The 'Modes of Good' initiative, which represents an expansion of the RTA's annual Meals On Wheels drive, endeavors to extend the spirit of giving across various modes of transport. Throughout Ramadan, RTA staff and volunteers are set to prepare and distribute 8,000 meals using special buses and Abras. This initiative not only supports bus, bike, and truck drivers and Abra riders but also involves visiting worker accommodations to distribute meals, thus strengthening the bonds within the community.
Ramadan Tent Project
In a significant move to provide for fasting individuals, the RTA, in cooperation with charitable societies and in partnership with the Beit Al Khair Society, is launching the Ramadan Tent Project. This initiative aims to provide 2,000 Iftar meals by setting up a dedicated tent, reinforcing the spirit of community and sharing during the holy month.
'We Bring You Closer' Initiative
Working in cooperation with Keolis, the 'We Bring You Closer' initiative seeks to enhance the connections between public transport users and their loved ones. By establishing four telephone booths at Al Ghubaiba, Union, and Jebel Ali Metro stations, this humanitarian initiative enables individuals to reach out to family and friends, fostering stronger personal connections.
Internal Initiatives for RTA Employees
The RTA is also focusing on the welfare of its employees through various internal initiatives. These include 'How to Prepare for Ramadan', comprising three remote workshops designed to highlight healthy fasting habits and the importance of a balanced diet during Ramadan. Additionally, the 'Who Will Win the Fanoos?' initiative offers winners vouchers. The RTA is also organizing a Ramadan Bazaar and Iftar Gathering, aiming to unite staff members and leaders over the Iftar meal. These gatherings are intended to promote social communication among employees and spread a culture of tolerance, which is expected to have a positive reflection on the work environment.
Through these thoughtful and inclusive initiatives, the RTA demonstrates its commitment to enhancing community engagement and support during the Holy Month of Ramadan. By focusing on the well-being of its employees, users of public transport, and the wider community, the RTA is actively contributing to the spirit of Ramadan and fostering a culture of giving and tolerance.
