Dubai's Private Schools Record 6% Enrolment Growth For The 2024-25 Academic Year
Dubai's private schools have seen a 6% rise in student enrolment for the 2024-25 academic year, totalling 387,441 students across 227 institutions. This growth is highlighted in a report by Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). The report also notes the opening of ten new private schools, aligning with Dubai’s Education Strategy E33, which aims to establish at least 100 new private schools by 2033.
The diverse educational landscape in Dubai is further enriched by the variety of curricula offered. Among these, the UK curriculum is the most popular, with 37% of students enrolled. Following this are the Indian curriculum at 26%, US curriculum at 14%, International Baccalaureate at 7%, and a UK/IB hybrid curriculum at 4%. These options cater to the city's growing and varied population.

There are currently 33,210 Emirati students attending private schools in Dubai. For these families, the US curriculum is preferred, followed by the UK and IB curriculums. The E33 Strategy aims to empower Emirati students by providing access to high-quality education and fostering lifelong learning. This strategy also focuses on enhancing student wellbeing and promoting an inclusive environment.
Aisha Miran, Director-General of KHDA, stated: "Dubai continues to be an attractive destination for families seeking world-class education and for educators dedicated to shaping future generations. The growth in student enrolment, including Emirati students, alongside the expansion of new schools, reflects the strength of the city’s education ecosystem."
The emirate has also become a hub for international educators. Currently, there are 27,284 teachers employed in Dubai's private schools, marking a 9% increase from last year. This growth underscores Dubai's appeal as a destination for teaching professionals seeking career advancement and development opportunities.
Aisha Miran further emphasised that "The E33 Strategy will continue to drive this sector forward by creating a diverse, inclusive environment where every student – regardless of background or ability – can access high-quality education and develop the skills they need to thrive in a globalised world."
The KHDA data reveals that Dubai's educational sector not only supports its economic ambitions but also contributes significantly to its social goals under the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai Social Agenda 33. The focus remains on fostering innovation and empowering individuals through education.
