Dubai Foundation Initiates Positive Parenting Program For Enhanced Family Growth
The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) has recently unveiled its 'Positive Parenting' program, a strategic initiative aligned with the Dubai Social Agenda 33. This innovative program is designed to fortify family units and bolster the societal growth and prosperity of Dubai by advocating for parenting practices that support the comprehensive development of children and the well-being of families. Drawing upon scientific insights from psychology and neuropsychology, the program addresses various aspects including effective communication, behavioral challenges, and stress management.
At the core of the Positive Parenting program are 12 expert-led training sessions targeted at parents, caregivers, and professionals working in mental health, social work, and education sectors. These sessions are meticulously crafted to prepare future generations with the competencies necessary to thrive and capitalize on opportunities. DFWAC has also developed a training manual for positive families to serve as a foundational guide and resource for participants.
The curriculum of the program is bifurcated into two main sessions. The initial session delves into the essence of positive parenting, its psychological and neurological underpinnings, and the significance of nurturing positive communication with children. The subsequent session is dedicated to augmenting skills for academic success, comprehending the developmental requisites of children across various stages, and formulating strategies to address behavioral issues.
Moreover, the program offers specialized strategies for parents of talented and exceptional children, providing insights on catering to their distinct needs while managing parental stress effectively. It tackles the complexities introduced by social media in parenting, equipping parents with tools and strategies that resonate with the principles of positive parenting. Additionally, it encompasses discussions on peer pressure and equips children with skills to navigate societal challenges.
The overarching goal of the Positive Parenting program is to foster strong communication, dialogue, and positive interactions within family settings. It underscores the pivotal role families play in society and seeks to empower parents and professionals with essential skills to nurture exceptional children. Through comprehensive training and guidance, this program aspires to cultivate a cohesive society that remains true to its values and identity.
