Dubai Police Triumph In Wheelchair Basketball At Nad Al Sheba Tournament

In a thrilling conclusion to the wheelchair basketball competition at the 11th Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, Dubai Police clinched the title with a nail-biting 61-60 victory over the Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship Dubai. The final, which took place in a packed Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex Hall, saw the lead change hands multiple times before Dubai Police emerged victorious, sparking jubilant celebrations among the team and their supporters.

The path to the final was equally challenging, with Dubai Police securing their spot by defeating Dubai Ambulance Services 31-25 in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, their opponents reached the final after a convincing 39-20 win against Dubai Courts. The awards ceremony saw Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of Dubai Sports Council and Chairman of the Organising Committee, alongside Hassan Al Mazrouei, Tournament Director, and representatives from various sponsors, presenting trophies to the winners and runners-up.

This year's tournament, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, featured nine different sports disciplines. With the slogan "Limitless Capabilities," it aimed to showcase the diverse talents across various sports. The event is drawing to a close, with only the volleyball finals and Strongman competitions remaining.

Other notable achievements in this year's tournament included victories in cycling, road running, and an obstacle race. Nikita Khaydukov and Ida Mathilde stood out as champions in the Obstacle Course Race (OCR), a demanding sport that tests competitors' endurance and agility through a series of physical challenges.

The road running events also highlighted exceptional talent, with Latifa Essarokh and Mbarek Rihane taking top honours in the women’s and men’s 5km races, respectively. The 10km races saw Wafa Zaroual and Dagne Tesfu Demsie emerge victorious in their categories, showcasing their prowess in long-distance running.

As the 11th Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament nears its conclusion, anticipation builds for the final rounds of the Strongman and volleyball competitions. These events promise to bring an exciting end to what has been an engaging showcase of sporting talent and determination under the banner of limitless capabilities.
