Dubai Police Achieve Record Security For 92.3 Million Travellers And Cargo In 2024

The General Department of Airport Security at Dubai Police, alongside its partners, ensured the safety of 92.3 million passengers and managed 2.88 million tonnes of cargo at Dubai International Airport in 2024. This achievement marks the 11th consecutive year of exceptional performance in global civil aviation security.

Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, stated that the Department exemplifies world-class specialised security operations. "It features an advanced system built on technology, expertise, and human efficiency, enabling the secure and seamless movement of millions of travellers and cargo every year," he said.

Dubai Police Secure Millions of Travellers in 2024

Al Marri emphasised that Dubai International Airport embodies the emirate’s ambition to be a global aviation hub. It serves as a crucial link between East and West, fostering economic growth and achieving record travel and cargo volumes despite worldwide challenges.

Dubai Police has consistently prioritised airport security by implementing smart systems and innovative strategies. These efforts align with both national and international aviation safety standards, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for all passengers.

During an inspection visit to the General Department of Airport Security, Al Marri was accompanied by Major General Harib Al Shamsi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Sector Affairs; Major General Marwan Jalfar, Assistant Commandant for Ports Affairs; and several senior officials.

Strategic Achievements

The Department achieved a 100 percent success rate on its strategic performance indicators for the fourth consecutive year. It completed 92 strategic and operational goals while meeting all national and international civil aviation security standards as confirmed in internal and external audits.

The Dubai Civil Aviation Security Centre gained recognition as a global leader in aviation security training. It earned three international accreditations from ICAO, IATA, and ACI, along with three national and five technical certifications.

Training Excellence

The centre employs 79 specialised trainers skilled in inspection technology, accessibility, and hazardous materials. Among them are five ICAO-certified instructors. In 2024, it trained over 42,000 employees, qualified nearly 3,000 inspectors, and collaborated with six strategic partners.

Last year, the Department recorded 12,718 security seizures and secured 35 external events. It also outlined a strategic plan for 2025–2033 focusing on readiness for Al Maktoum International Airport, smart infrastructure development, and advanced training initiatives.

At the conclusion of his visit, Al Marri praised the Department’s leadership and staff for maintaining Dubai’s status as a global benchmark in aviation security. Their efforts contribute significantly to safety innovation and sustainability within the industry.
