Dubai Police Swiftly Rescue British Hiker In Hatta Mountains
In a critical rescue operation that underscores the efficiency and preparedness of Dubai's emergency services, a British tourist was saved while hiking in the Hatta mountains. The tourist faced serious health issues, including severe exhaustion and high blood pressure, necessitating a swift airlift by the Dubai Police's Air Wing and the Brave Squad.
The rescue mission was set in motion following an emergency alert about the tourist's dire situation. Given the complex terrain, which could have hindered ground rescue efforts for up to four hours, the decision to deploy a helicopter for evacuation was made.
Pilot Colonel Ali Al Muhairi, Director of the Dubai Police Air Wing Centre, elaborated on the operation's execution. The team, led by Pilot Colonel Ahmad Al Marri and Pilot Colonel Essam Bin Hafez, along with a medical crew from the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, was dispatched promptly. Their successful navigation to the tourist's location was greatly aided by advanced aerial navigation systems, provided accurate coordinates by the Brave Squad.
Lieutenant Muhammad Obaid Al Kaabi, who heads the Brave Squad, highlighted the use of drones equipped with thermal imaging technology in the search and rescue effort. This technology played a crucial role in locating the incapacitated tourist. Following the successful location and initial on-site first aid, the tourist was airlifted to Hatta Hospital for the necessary treatment, ultimately ensuring his recovery.
Established in 2018 in Hatta, the Brave Squad is a specialized unit of the Dubai Police, equipped for rapid response in mountainous terrains. The unit boasts an arsenal of mechanical devices, modified vehicles suitable for rugged landscapes, LED flashlights, heavy equipment, and drones. This equipment arsenal enhances their capability to efficiently handle emergencies in challenging environments.
Lt. Al Kaabi also took the opportunity to remind residents and tourists alike of the importance of safety in mountainous or valley regions. He urged the public to promptly dial the emergency number 999 or use the SOS service on the Dubai Police app in case of an emergency. This incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with outdoor activities in such terrains and the critical importance of having access to rapid emergency services.
The successful rescue operation showcases the collaboration between different units of Dubai's emergency services, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and highly trained personnel ready to respond to crises. It also highlights the city's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of both its residents and visitors.
