Dubai Police Hosts Drug Abuse Awareness Event To Protect Community
Dubai Police recently wrapped up a three-day awareness event at Dubai Mall, marking the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event, themed 'My Family... My True Wealth,' aimed to educate the public about the dangers of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
The General Department of Anti-Narcotics organised the event with help from strategic partners like the Community Development Authority, Dubai Customs, Erada Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation, Health Authority, Al Ameen Service, Emirates Health Services, and the National Rehabilitation Centre. These collaborations ensured a comprehensive approach to raising awareness.

Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansoori attended the closing ceremony. He highlighted Dubai Police's dedication to fighting drug abuse through community outreach. "We firmly believe that awareness and education are essential steps to protect the community from the scourge of drug abuse," he stated.
Various educational activities were conducted during the event. The Community Development Authority held workshops and lectures for families on drug dangers and prevention methods. Dubai Customs provided sessions on the risks of using others' belongings during travel.
The Erada Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre in Dubai showcased specialised treatment programs. Similarly, the National Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre presented their range of services. Both centres aimed to offer solutions for those affected by drug abuse.
Role of Families in Prevention
Major General Eid Mohammed Thani Harib emphasised the family's role in preventing drug abuse. "We firmly believe that the family plays a crucial role in protecting children from falling into the trap of drug abuse," he said. He also encouraged public use of confidential communication channels with Dubai Police for information sharing.
The Health Authority organised workshops for parents on drug dangers. The Al Ameen Service explained its role and communication channels. Emirates Health Services discussed addressing psychological aspects in addiction treatment.
Additional Contributions
The Positive Spirit Council and Council of People of Determination also participated by organising side events. These included a free art workshop for children, recreational competitions, and sign language awareness lectures.
The Criminal Investigation Department provided information on reporting cybercrime through the E-Crime platform. They also offered guidance on handling anonymous electronic messages via this platform.
