Dubai Police Unveils The UAE’s First Tent Pegging Team To Boost Equestrian Skills

Dubai has marked a significant milestone in the equestrian sports arena by establishing the nation's first police "Tent Pegging" team, under the auspices of the Dubai Mounted Police Station. This initiative not only highlights the riders' adept skills and horse handling abilities but also positions Dubai Police's team as the largest group within the UAE national tent pegging team, enjoying full accreditation from the Emirates Equestrian Federation.

Dr. Major General Muhammad Issa Al Adhab, who leads both the Dubai Mounted Police Station and the Tent Pegging Team, shared insights into the formation of this unique squad. He underscored the continuous support from Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Dubai Police Commander-in-chief, towards nurturing human resources through advanced training programmes and active sports engagement. "This initiative is pivotal in enhancing skills and work performance, thereby supporting Dubai Police's strategic objectives to bolster community security and safety," Al Adhab stated.

Al Adhab further elaborated on the sophisticated system in place at the Dubai Mounted Police Station aimed at optimising human resources. "The establishment of the tent pegging team is instrumental in maintaining superior craftsmanship and outstanding performance among our riders. It elevates their confidence, motivation, and participation in both local and international championships, creating a competitive atmosphere within the sport," he added.

Captain Rashed Salem Al Shamsi, Head of the Social Services Department at the Dubai Mounted Police Station and supervisor of the tent pegging team, highlighted how the station's capabilities facilitated an ideal environment for team formation. "This process involved selecting a core group of riders and leveraging specialised expertise, including that of the national team's coach, to prepare them for this vibrant sport," Al Shamsi noted.

The team's rigorous training has already borne fruit, with them clinching top positions in various national and international championships across ring and sword games. These achievements have significantly contributed to enhancing the UAE's footprint in this globally recognised equestrian sport.

This development not only showcases Dubai Police's commitment to fostering sporting excellence but also reinforces the UAE's position in promoting diverse equestrian disciplines on an international stage.
