Dubai Police Initiates 'Sport For Support' Campaign For Ramadan Charity
The Dubai Police, in a collaborative effort with the Dar Al Ber Society, Dubai Economy and Tourism, and Dubai Sports Council, has launched the 'Sport for Support' campaign. This initiative, announced during a press conference at the Dubai Police General HQ, seeks to blend the worlds of sports and charitable work throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan. The campaign's primary goal is to leverage sports to aid charity activities, thereby fostering community service and supporting various social and humanitarian projects.
Dr Maryam Anas Al Matroushi, Chairperson of the Athletes Council, along with other notable figures such as Captain Ahmad bin Thabou Al Falasi, Safwan Al Omari, Yousuf Suhail, and Mohammed Al Sar, highlighted the campaign's intention to raise Dh3 million by engaging over 100,000 people through various sports activities. Donations can be made through Dar Al Ber Charity Association's platforms or a specific online link dedicated to the campaign.
The 'Sport for Support' campaign will feature several initiatives across different venues. One such initiative is 'Iftar with Leaders', providing an exclusive chance to engage with Dubai Police leaders and guests of honour. This initiative will include 30 minutes of appropriate exercise followed by Iftar, running for seven days at the Dubai Police Officers Club.
Additionally, the campaign will make its presence felt at the Adnoc Pro League, aiming to promote the values of charity and social accountability. It will also have a dedicated pavilion at the NAS sports tournament, which showcases a variety of games, including volleyball and jiu-jitsu, among others.
The 'Obstacle Course and Barrier Crossing Championship', a main event at the NAS sports tournament, will challenge participants with its rigorous physical and technical demands. Moreover, the campaign will be part of the prestigious Dubai World Cup, the world's richest horse race, on March 30 at the Meydan Racecourse.
The officials emphasised that the campaign not only aims to raise funds but also to foster cooperation and teamwork within the community. It supports a wide range of social and humanitarian projects, from charitable endowments and medical projects to the construction of mosques and water wells, demonstrating a commitment to comprehensive community service and enhancement.
Through these diverse and engaging activities, the 'Sport for Support' campaign represents a unique convergence of sports and charitable work, underlining the Dubai Police's dedication to fostering a spirit of giving and community support during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
