Dubai Police Distribute 71,850 Iftar Meals In Road Safety Drive For Ramadan
In a significant move to bolster road safety during the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Dubai Police launched an initiative named "Ramadan without Accidents". This campaign saw the distribution of 71,850 iftar meals to motorists across Dubai in the initiative's first week.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, the Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, highlighted this effort as a collaboration involving multiple entities, including the Department of Traffic Awareness, the General Department for Human Rights, Al Khawaneej Police Station, the Emirates Red Crescent, Dubai Charity Association, Dubai Customs, Dubai Digital Authority, Med7 Pharmacy, Life Pharmacy and talabat.
The primary aim of this initiative is to reduce the spike in traffic accidents observed before iftar time. This period sees an increase in the number of drivers rushing to reach their homes, which in turn raises the likelihood of traffic violations and accidents. By distributing iftar meals at major intersections, the campaign encourages drivers to slow down and drive more cautiously during these critical hours.
During the first week of Ramadan, the initiative successfully reached approximately 71,850 motorists, with an average of 10,000 meals distributed daily. This was made possible through the efforts of traffic officers, the various participating organizations, and a dedicated team of volunteers. Major General Al Mazrouei extended his gratitude towards everyone involved, stressing the significance of their contribution. He underscored the importance of maintaining cautious driving habits during Ramadan to ensure the safety and sanctity of the month are preserved.
The "Ramadan without Accidents" campaign represents a proactive approach to enhancing road safety during a time when the risk of traffic incidents traditionally increases. Through this initiative, the Dubai Police and its partners aim not only to reduce the number of accidents but also to promote a culture of safety and responsibility among drivers during the holy month.
