Dubai Police Seize 383 Motorcycles and Escooters For Violations During Ramadan
In a recent statement, Major General Abdullah Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs, underscored the importance of compliance with traffic laws among bike drivers in Dubai. He emphasized the necessity for drivers to use only permitted roads and paths and to follow all security and safety guidelines. This call to action comes in light of the Dubai Police's efforts to ensure public safety on the roads, especially during the Ramadan period.
From the onset of Ramadan to the 18th day of the Holy Month, the Dubai Police have taken action against errant bike and electric scooter riders. A total of 383 motorcycles and electric scooters were seized, and numerous violations were issued due to negligence and failure to adhere to designated driving areas. Major General Al Ghaithi highlighted that adherence to safety measures, such as wearing helmets and reflective vests, and ensuring bikes are equipped with front and rear reflective lights and functioning brakes, is mandatory.
The intent behind these stringent measures is to foster a culture of road safety and awareness. By reducing adverse behaviors and traffic accidents, the Dubai Police aim to minimize human losses and make Dubai's roads safer for everyone, including drivers, passengers, and pedestrians. Major General Al Ghaithi expressed the force's commitment to enhancing traffic safety and ensuring a secure environment for all road users through increased traffic control operations. These efforts are directed towards reducing traffic violations and deterring reckless behavior that endangers lives.
Additionally, Major General Al Ghaithi encouraged the community to play an active role in maintaining road safety. He urged residents to report any unsafe behaviors or negative phenomena through the "Police Eye" service on the Dubai Police smartphone application or by calling the "We are all police" hotline at 901. His message is clear: safety is a collective responsibility, and everyone's participation is crucial to achieving safer roads in Dubai.
The actions taken by the Dubai Police and the appeal to the community reflect a broader initiative to uphold traffic regulations and promote a culture of safety. Through concerted efforts, the aim is to reduce traffic-related incidents and ensure a secure environment for all road users in the emirate.
