Dubai Police Introduces Community Initiatives For Cybersecurity Awareness Month To Enhance Online Safety

Dubai Police have launched several initiatives to promote online safety during Global Cybersecurity Awareness Month this October. At a press conference, senior officers highlighted the importance of safeguarding the community from cyber threats and educating people on simple preventive measures. The event was attended by key figures from Dubai Police, including Lieutenant Colonel Dr Expert Saeed bin Abid and Major Engineer Khalil Al Hosani.

Among the initiatives are engaging competitions with cash prizes to boost participation. An awareness exhibition at the Officers Club aims to educate school students about online safety through interactive methods. Additionally, the eCrime Hub website serves as an educational resource. A notable feature is the "Capture the Flag" competition for ethical hackers and tech enthusiasts to enhance their cybersecurity skills.

This year's campaigns target school and university students, tourists, and the broader community. The goal is to teach individuals how to protect personal data and avoid scams or hacking attempts. Officers emphasised that education and awareness are vital defences against online dangers.
