Dubai Police Conduct Operation Against Gang Promoting Drug-Flavoured Sweets And Seize AED 2,448,426 In Narcotics
Dubai Police have apprehended a group of 15 people, comprising 10 men and five women, for distributing sweets with narcotic flavours. During the operation named ‘Drugs Flavor,’ authorities confiscated 48 kilogrammes of narcotics and 1,174 pills valued at AED 2,448,426. This announcement was made at a press conference by the General Department of Anti-Narcotics during an exhibition aimed at raising awareness about drug promotion tactics.
Brigadier Dr. Abdul Rahman Sharif Al Maamari, Director of the International Hemaya Center, revealed that the arrests were the result of detailed monitoring by the General Department of Anti-Narcotics. The gang used social media to sell drugs disguised as sweets and chewing gum containing narcotic substances. Brig. Al Maamari emphasised that this success highlights Dubai Police's advanced capabilities in combating crime.

The operation to capture the gang was executed with high professionalism and constant surveillance until the raid on their residence. Intelligence had indicated a sophisticated criminal network operating from abroad to promote drug-flavoured sweets. A specialised task force was quickly formed to address this threat.
Manal Ibrahim, Director of the Security Media Department, stressed that promoting drugs on social media is a significant community threat. She urged people to be vigilant and report suspicious messages through the e-Crime platform or ‘Police Eye’ service available on Dubai Police's app and website. Manal advised caution when buying sweets online as some may contain illegal substances in the UAE.
Brigadier Al Maamari noted that identifying gang members involved thorough searches and investigations. The team successfully raided their residence, seizing drugs in their possession. Those arrested have been referred to Public Prosecution for legal proceedings.
Parental Guidance and Legal Measures
Manal Ibrahim advised parents to buy sweets only from trusted sources and check ingredients carefully to ensure safety. She reaffirmed their commitment to public awareness through media campaigns for community security. The Director of Security Media also highlighted that some sweets legal elsewhere are banned in the UAE for safety reasons.
The thwarting of this gang marks a significant achievement in Dubai Police's ongoing fight against crime. Brigadier Al Maamari stated, "This success underscores the advanced capabilities of Dubai Police, including cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies and a skilled, specialised team proficient in detecting and addressing criminal activities."
The operation demonstrates Dubai Police’s dedication to protecting communities from drug-related threats through advanced technology and strategic planning.
