Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief Reviews Strategic Future Plans For Airport Security Operations

Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, recently assessed the future plans and strategic projects of the General Department of Airport Security. These initiatives align with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as Dubai aims to lead global aviation for the next four decades.

Al Marri highlighted that Dubai Police operates according to a clear strategy aligned with the Dubai Government's directives. He noted that modern systems, programs, and technologies support their high performance levels. "This positions the force as a model for advanced security operations in safeguarding the aviation sector and ensuring efficient processing for airport users," he stated.

The Commander-in-Chief reviewed significant achievements across various operations based on key performance indicators. These accomplishments covered all aspects of security, administration, and field operations, adhering to national and international civil aviation security standards. The department's efforts secured 87 million travellers and nearly two million tons of cargo in 2023.

During his visit, Al Marri examined the role of the General Department of Airport Security in enhancing employee satisfaction through its happiness initiatives plan for 2023. This plan aims to improve happiness levels, ensure sustainable performance and efficiency, and create a motivating work environment, achieving a 100 percent employee motivation rate.

The inspection included a tour of the Dubai Airports Joint Operations Room where Al Marri reviewed the latest programs and technologies used. Accompanied by Jamal Al Hai, Deputy CEO of Dubai Airports, he also visited areas such as internal devices sections and flight transfer zones.

Al Marri inspected training processes at the Dubai Civil Aviation Security Center. The centre conducted 167 courses benefiting 4,388 trainees who engaged in sessions to effectively use advanced security devices. This training ensures safety at airports by adhering to international standards.

Awards and Recognition

The General Department of Airport Security received several awards in 2023. These include Best Joint Project Award, Best Innovative Employee Award from the Minister of Interior, Global Innovation Award for "Civil Aviation Security Threat Assessment Center," Best Training Center in Dubai Police, Best Male Trainer, Best Female Trainer, Best Training Center for achieving performance indicators, and "Eighth International Award for Best Practices 2022" for the "Xovis" project.

Al Marri also reviewed strategic indicators related to core operations' readiness. He emphasised that new systems enhance security while streamlining passenger flow at busy airports like those in Dubai. Personnel are trained to carry out tasks professionally using artificial intelligence tools.

Air Wing Operations

The Commander-in-Chief examined the operational framework of the Dubai Police Air Wing which plays a vital role in supporting police operations. In 2023 alone it completed 685 missions including security coverage support air ambulance services search-and-rescue missions with an average response time set at twelve minutes against fifteen-minute targets.
