Dubai's Night-Swimming Beaches Welcome 1.5 Million Visitors Since Opening In 2023

Night-swimming beaches in Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1 have attracted around 1.5 million visitors within a year and a half of their launch. Spanning 800 metres, these beaches highlight the Municipality's efforts to improve public beach appeal by offering services that focus on comfort and luxury for both tourists and residents. This initiative is part of Dubai's broader plan to enhance its public beaches.

Ibrahim Juma, Director of the Public Beaches and Water Canals Department at Dubai Municipality, noted that the high visitor numbers at these night-swimming beaches demonstrate the project's success in providing a unique tourism experience. "The initiative allows residents and tourists to enjoy the beauty of Dubai's beaches at night, ensuring the highest levels of comfort, luxury, and quality of life," said Juma. "It aligns with Dubai's integrated efforts to establish itself as a global leader in quality of life and as one of the top international tourist destinations."

1.5 Million Visit Dubai's Night-Swimming Beaches

Juma further explained that Dubai Municipality has made these night-swimming beaches accessible for people of determination and senior citizens. Features like floating chairs for swimming, trained rescue teams, and a fully equipped rest area are designed according to the 'Dubai Universal Design Code.' Enhanced technical features ensure safety and security for all visitors.

Safety Measures and Amenities

To maintain safety at these beaches, Dubai Municipality has implemented several measures. Electronic screens provide educational content, while advanced lighting systems enable safe swimming around the clock. A qualified team of rescuers is always present, including an operations manager, assistant manager, three rescue supervisors, and 16 trained lifeguards equipped with modern rescue tools.

Unique Night-Swimming Experience

The Municipality has set specific hours for night swimming from sunset to sunrise. This makes Dubai a unique destination in the region offering such an experience. The management of water canals and public beaches across the emirate falls under Dubai Municipality’s oversight. Their objectives include enhancing infrastructure and providing services that boost residents' well-being.

In May 2023, three beaches were designated for night-swimming by the Municipality. This decision underscores its commitment to improving Dubai’s public beaches. It aligns with the government's vision to make Dubai the best city globally for living, working, and tourism. These efforts reinforce Dubai’s status as a global entertainment hub attracting international visitors with diverse attractions.

Dubai Municipality continues to offer distinctive recreational experiences along its beaches through these initiatives. By focusing on integrated services and attractive amenities, they aim to enhance happiness among residents and visitors alike while positioning Dubai as a leading tourist destination worldwide.
