Dubai Municipality And IACAD Collaborate To Enhance Religious Facilities And Preserve Heritage In Dubai

Dubai Municipality has partnered with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) to enhance religious facilities. This collaboration aims to preserve heritage mosques, improve Eid prayer grounds, and streamline funeral services. The agreement aligns with Dubai's vision of strengthening institutional collaboration and improving the quality of life for its residents.

The partnership focuses on a unified approach to mosque design and construction, ensuring cultural, religious, and architectural heritage is protected. Dubai Municipality will restore heritage mosques, maintaining their traditional architecture. IACAD will manage operations, including providing imams, muezzins, preachers, religious programmes, and daily cleaning services.

Enhancing Dubai's Religious Facilities Together

Both entities aim to improve service quality by streamlining mosque construction processes according to best practices. Dubai Municipality will simplify procedures, speed up permit approvals, and incorporate IACAD’s standards into the Dubai Building Code. Developers will be guided to set up temporary prayer facilities for workers on-site. Donors are encouraged to support mosque construction using advanced 3D printing technology.

In line with their commitment to integration, Dubai Municipality will upgrade mortuary washing facilities with necessary logistical support. IACAD will oversee Shariah-related aspects like appointing staff for washing and burial, training personnel, licensing washers, issuing permits for volunteers, and ensuring compliance with religious procedures.

Marwan Ahmad Bin Ghalita of Dubai Municipality stated that this agreement is a milestone in their partnership. "This strategic agreement marks an important milestone in the partnership between our two entities. It strengthens our joint efforts to provide high-quality services that benefit the entire community while preserving the authentic character of historic mosques and prayer sites," he said.

The agreement also aims to enhance Eid prayer grounds in response to urban growth. Dubai Municipality will beautify these areas, issue permits, and develop them with commercial outlets and necessary features. IACAD will manage operations and ensure readiness through administrative support.

Preserving Heritage While Embracing Progress

The partnership reflects efforts to design mosques meeting high standards while adopting modern technologies. It ensures heritage preservation alongside efficient cemetery management in line with Shariah guidelines. Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi from IACAD remarked on the significance of this collaboration: "This partnership represents a significant step towards enhancing Dubai’s religious infrastructure... Our goal is to create spaces that embody Islamic values."

This agreement promises sustainable religious facilities that enhance social activities aligned with Islamic values. By integrating modern construction methods while preserving historical authenticity, it aims to deliver high-quality services benefiting all community segments.
