Dubai Municipality To Sponsor Food Innovation Conference 2024, Focusing On Sustainable Future Food Systems
Dubai Municipality has proudly announced its sponsorship of the upcoming Food Innovation Conference 2024, a pivotal event organized by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) in partnership with the World Economic Forum. Scheduled from 13th to 15th May, the conference is themed "Reimagining Future Food Systems" and aims to address the sustainability and safety of the food sector in Dubai. This initiative is a testament to Dubai Municipality's commitment to enhancing public safety and establishing a sustainable food system that aligns with the highest global standards.
Through its Food Safety Department, Dubai Municipality is dedicated to creating an integrated food control ecosystem. This initiative is designed to boost confidence in food safety and position Dubai as a leader in sustainability and livability. Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, emphasized the conference's role in promoting innovative practices within the food industry, setting superior health and food safety standards, and leveraging advanced technologies to fulfill the objectives of the ‘Dubai Food Security Strategy’.
The strategy focuses on maintaining food safety, increasing local production, diversifying import sources, and minimizing food waste. Al Hajri also highlighted the conference as a crucial platform for discussing effective solutions to current and future challenges in global food production, thereby facilitating sustainable food systems and addressing climate change impacts.
Dr. Abdulkareem Al Olama, CEO of MBRGI, acknowledged Dubai Municipality's sponsorship as instrumental in ensuring the conference's success. He praised the collaborative approach among national bodies and institutions in the UAE and Dubai, which enhances the success of international conferences in terms of organization, marketing, and goal achievement.
The Food Innovation Conference 2024 will be hosted at the Museum of the Future and Emirates Towers in Dubai, bringing together over 150 experts from around the world. The event will feature panel discussions and workshops focusing on the role of technology in creating resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems. It will also explore new trends in food system sustainability and expand global collaboration opportunities.
Highlighting best practices in the food sector and technological advancements such as Artificial Intelligence and data science for food safety will be a key focus. The conference will include a Food Innovation Hub Leadership Committee meeting on 14th May and an open exhibition on 13th and 14th May to showcase innovative efforts in food systems.
The event will conclude with field visits to major factories, farms, and national food production companies, offering attendees a comprehensive view of the industry's latest innovations and challenges. This sponsorship by Dubai Municipality underscores its ongoing commitment to fostering innovation within its operational programs, particularly concerning food systems.
