Dubai Senior Mufti Encourages Support For AED 1 Billion Mothers’ Endowment Fund

In a significant move to support global education, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has initiated the Mothers’ Endowment campaign. This ambitious project aims to establish an AED1 billion endowment fund dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities worldwide. Dr. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Haddad, Senior Mufti and Director of the Ifta Department at the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, has called upon the community to actively participate in this noble cause.

Dr. Al-Haddad praised His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his continuous efforts in launching initiatives that have a profound and positive impact on communities. He highlighted that the Mothers’ Endowment campaign serves as a tribute to mothers globally, acknowledging their unparalleled contributions and sacrifices. According to Dr. Al-Haddad, the best way to honour mothers is through ongoing charity that keeps giving, aligning with the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) who advocated for ongoing charities and endowments in honour of parents.

The campaign is not just a means to honour mothers but also a strategic approach towards driving sustainable development through education. Dr. Al-Haddad emphasized that contributions towards this campaign are considered general charity and should not be confused with Zakat, which is directed towards specific beneficiaries. He also noted that making donations during the holy month of Ramadan holds special significance and rewards.

The Mothers’ Endowment campaign offers multiple channels for making donations, ensuring ease of access for individuals and institutions wishing to contribute. Donations can be made through the campaign’s official website at mothersfund.ae or by contacting their dedicated call centre via the toll-free number (800 9999). For those preferring bank transfers, contributions can be made in UAE dirham to Emirates Islamic Bank using the account number AE790340003708472909201.

Additionally, donations via SMS are facilitated for Etisalat by e& users by sending the word "Mother" to numbers 1034, 1035, 1036, or 1038. The DubaiNow app also supports donations under the "Donations" tab, alongside Dubai’s community contributions platform Jood, offering various avenues for people to support this cause.

This initiative not only celebrates the essence of motherhood but also underscores the importance of education as a cornerstone for sustainable development.
