Dubai Metro Guide: Which Stations Are Operational After The Rains?

On Tuesday, Dubai Metro services faced a significant disruption due to heavy rainfall across the UAE, impacting the daily commute of around 200 passengers. The adverse weather conditions almost halted the metro operations, leaving commuters stranded at various stations. The RTA issued a notice advising passengers to plan their journeys in advance, due to scheduled maintenance activities on both the Red and Green lines, which are expected to affect the service timings and operations.

Commuter Assistance During Disruptions

To mitigate the impact on passengers, the RTA will provide complimentary shuttle bus services at the affected stations, ensuring travelers can reach their destinations without significant inconvenience. Despite the disruptions to metro services, the Dubai Tram continues to operate according to its regular schedule, offering an alternative mode of transport.

Operational Metro Stations

For those needing to use the Dubai Metro today, the RTA has confirmed the operational status of several stations on both the Red and Green lines. On the Red Line, passengers can access services between Centrepoint Station and Business Bay Station, from Jabal Ali to Expo 2020 Station, Centrepoint Station to GGICO Metro Station, and from BurJuman Station to Business Bay Station. Additionally, the RTA has resumed services at Emirates Towers, Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, Financial Centre, and Business Bay stations, with efforts ongoing to reopen the remaining stations gradually.

On the Green Line, services are available from Etisalat station to Abu Hail, Creek station to Al Ras, and from Jabal Ali Station to Expo 2020. To assist passengers needing to travel to stations currently out of service, free shuttle services are being provided.

Stranded Commuters Seek Answers

The suspension of Dubai Metro operations, particularly towards Centrepoint from Jebel Ali Metro Station, left approximately 200 commuters without access to essential amenities for hours. The situation was exacerbated by the closure of Zoom stores and clogged toilets, leading to frustration among the passengers. The lack of information on when metro services would resume further heightened tensions among those affected.

Weather Conditions And Impacts

The UAE continues to experience cloudy skies with expectations of more rain. This weather pattern, described as the heaviest rainfall in 75 years, has prompted discussions on remote work flexibility similar to that granted to federal entities, highlighting the broader effects of the severe weather conditions on daily life and work in the UAE.

As the RTA works to restore full metro services and provide alternative transport options, passengers are urged to stay informed about the latest updates and plan their commutes accordingly.
