Dubai Metro Blue Line Construction Hits 10% Completion Milestone In Five Months

The Dubai Metro Blue Line project has achieved 10 percent completion, according to Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This milestone comes just five months after the project's initiation in June 2025. The AED56.5 billion venture spans 30 km and includes 14 stations, connecting the Red and Green Lines while linking key residential, economic, and educational areas.

Over 500 engineers and experts, along with 3,000 workers, are currently engaged across 12 sites to ensure timely progress. Al Tayer confirmed that the work is on track, with expectations to reach 30 percent completion by the end of 2026. Operations are scheduled to commence on 9th September 2029. "The Dubai Metro Blue Line is one of RTA’s most strategic projects, serving areas expected to house around one million residents by 2040 and offering direct journeys to Dubai International Airport in just 20 minutes," he said.

Dubai Metro Blue Line Reaches Key Milestone

The line will run in two directions: from Creek Interchange Station on the Green Line in Al Jaddaf to Dubai Academic City, and from Centrepoint Interchange Station on the Red Line in Al Rashidiya to International City. The architectural highlight will be the Emaar Station, set to become the world's highest metro station at 74 metres. It will accommodate up to 240,000 passengers daily by 2040.

RTA's commitment to safety is evident as over three million work hours have been completed without any fatalities. This reflects adherence to international safety standards. More than 260 deep foundations have been laid, and excavation has reached 400,000 cubic metres. To boost construction efficiency, two ready-mix concrete plants have been established in Al Ruwayyah 3 and International City.

The project supports the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), promoting a ‘20-minute city’ concept aimed at reducing traffic congestion by 20 percent. It is also anticipated that property values around stations could rise by up to 25 percent due to improved connectivity.

RTA continues engaging local communities through proactive communication and public consultations. This ensures residents are informed about construction updates and planned traffic diversions. Such efforts aim to maintain transparency and minimise disruptions during construction phases.

This ambitious project underscores Dubai's commitment to enhancing its infrastructure while aligning with future urban development goals. As construction progresses, it promises significant benefits for residents and commuters alike.
