Dubai Maritime Authority Implements Final New Year 2026 Marine Traffic Measures To Enhance Safety And Navigational Efficiency
Dubai Maritime Authority, part of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, activates its final marine traffic management plan for New Year’s Eve 2026. The plan targets maritime safety and smooth navigation during peak celebrations. It focuses on busy coastal zones such as Dubai Marina, Dubai Harbour and Palm Jumeirah.
The Authority states that the programme introduces a one-way traffic pattern before and after midnight. Navigation will pause during the actual year change period. Marine movement below Palm Jumeirah bridges will remain closed throughout the operation. These steps aim to regulate vessel movement and reduce collision risks during crowded celebrations.

The plan runs from 22:00 on 31st December, 2025 until 02:00 on 1st January, 2026. During this period, the focus remains on high-density locations where private boats, tour vessels and yachts gather. Detailed timing and coverage reflect expected peak traffic along the main leisure waterfront.

Vessels will be grouped by size, with set routes assigned to each category. Dubai Maritime Authority specifies mandatory time slots for movements to ease congestion. Rules will also control anchoring and drifting and regulate mooring spaces. All operators must follow international collision-prevention regulations while navigating these areas.
Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director of Dubai Maritime Authority, says the plan reflects a commitment to high safety standards and efficient navigation. Patrol units and monitoring teams will work continuously with partner agencies. Immediate legal procedures will apply to any violations recorded during operations.
In preparation, Dubai Maritime Authority conducts a coordination workshop with strategic partners and marina operators. Discussions address vessel movement schedules, patrol deployment, anchoring conditions and emergency response steps. Participants review compliance mechanisms to ensure integrated action. The aim is a smooth and organised marine traffic flow during New Year 2026 celebrations.
The Authority stresses that vessel owners, maritime agents, marinas, yacht clubs and recreational boat operators must follow all approved instructions. Dubai Maritime Authority also urges marine users to track weather forecasts, as unstable conditions remain possible on New Year’s Eve. These combined measures support a safe maritime environment around Dubai’s major year-end events.
