Dubai Mall Introduces Parking Fees In Collaboration With Salik
Dubai Mall has initiated a new parking charge system in partnership with Salik, the toll gate company known for its barrier-free solutions. This collaboration aims to streamline parking at the city's renowned shopping destination. As of December 2023, visitors to Dubai Mall will encounter automatic parking fees, a move that leverages technology for a more efficient customer experience.
The implemented system utilizes vehicle plate recognition to automatically deduct parking fees from the Salik user accounts of visitors, eliminating the need for physical tickets. This integration not only simplifies the process but also supports Dubai's vision for sustainable and smart mobility solutions.
Parking at Dubai Mall continues to be complimentary for the initial hours, varying across weekdays and weekends. From Monday to Thursday, parking is free for the first four hours, whereas from Friday to Sunday, the first six hours incur no charge. Post the complimentary period, parking fees are structured as follows:
| Duration | Weekdays (Mon-Thu) | Weekends (Fri-Sun) |
|---|---|---|
| 4 – 5 hours | Dhs40 | - |
| 5 – 6 hours | Dhs60 | - |
| 6 – 7 hours | Dhs80 | Dhs80 |
| 7 – 8 hours | - | Dhs100 |
| 8 – 12 hours | Dhs100 | Dhs200 |
| 12 – 24 hours | Dhs500 | Dhs500 |
| 24 hours+ | Dhs1,000 | Dhs1,000 |
It's important to note that these charges apply specifically to Grand parking, Cinema parking, and Fashion parking areas within Dubai Mall. As of now, Zabeel and Fountain Views parking zones remain free of charge.
Exemptions and Future Plans
Exemptions have been made for certain groups; people of determination, public service providers, and those using valet services will not be subject to these parking fees. This decision aligns with Dubai's inclusive approach to infrastructure and services.
Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, CEO and board member of Salik, highlighted the initiative's aim to offer a seamless parking experience. By removing the need for gates or barriers, the system is designed to reduce congestion and enhance the overall customer journey at Dubai Mall. With over 2 million registered active accounts and 4 million active vehicles, Salik's vast user base is expected to facilitate a smooth transition to the new parking management system.
The collaboration between Salik and Dubai Mall has resulted in a parking solution that not only leverages leading technology but also contributes to Dubai's goals for smart city development. Salik's expertise in toll gate management, combined with Dubai Mall's provision of local infrastructure, office space, and maintenance efforts, marks a significant step towards innovative urban mobility solutions.
