Dubai Launches New Long-Term Gaming Visa
Dubai has unveiled an innovative initiative, the 'Dubai Gaming Visa', aimed at bolstering the e-gaming sector by supporting skilled individuals, creative minds, and industry pioneers. This long-term visa is part of the ambitious Dubai Program for Gaming 2033, led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum the Crown Prince of and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. The program's goal is to elevate Dubai into the top 10 cities globally in the gaming industry and to augment Dubai's digital economy, with an expected GDP increase of $1 billion by 2033.
The initiative serves as a platform to nurture talent within the e-gaming industry, offering opportunities for investment and turning innovative ideas into successful ventures. According to Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the Dubai Gaming Visa aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. It aims to enhance Dubai's position as a leading destination for entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals in game development, design, programming, and related fields. This move is intended to support Dubai's cultural vision as a global culture center, a creativity incubator, and a talent hub.

With the objective of creating 30,000 new jobs in the e-gaming sector by 2033, Dubai demonstrates its strong commitment to supporting this rapidly growing industry. The city has already established itself as a magnet for leading professionals in the gaming world, hosting a variety of initiatives, events, and exhibitions dedicated to the sector’s development and expansion.
The 'Dubai Gaming Visa' falls under the umbrella of multi-year cultural visa categories granted by Dubai Culture and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA-Dubai). It targets individuals across six key sectors, including cultural and natural heritage, performing arts and festivals, visual arts, books and press, audio-visual and interactive media, and design and creative services.
Application Process
Prospective applicants for the 'Dubai Gaming Visa' can initiate their application through the Dubai Culture website or the official website of the initiative. The application process entails the submission of various documents, such as educational qualifications, proof of community contributions, job roles, and copies of passports, residence permits, Emirates IDs, cultural biographies, CVs, and contact details.
