Dubai Media Council Introduces Emirati Media Talent Pledge To Boost National Competencies

The Dubai Media Council has announced the launch of the Emirati Media Talent Pledge initiative, under the guidance of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. The initiative aims to develop talented national media individuals in collaboration with the private sector and was announced during the Arab Media Forum (AMF), which is being held alongside the Arab Media Summit.

The initiative, to be implemented by the Dubai Press Club, will offer mentorship, internships, and job opportunities to media students and other talented individuals, with the goal of strengthening the media sector in Dubai. Several prominent Arab and international media organizations have already shown interest in participating in the initiative.

Boosting Emirati Media Talent

The launch of the initiative is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support and encourage young people. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed stated that by providing a nurturing environment for creativity and innovation, the initiative aims to equip young talents with the necessary tools to thrive in an evolving media landscape. The goal is to enable them to lead the development of local media, drive journalistic excellence, and contribute significantly to the nation's progress.

The Dubai Media Council has developed a comprehensive plan to strengthen the media sector in Dubai, with a particular focus on increasing youth involvement in the industry. This plan includes collaborations with prominent global media outlets as well as local media organizations known for their expertise in media training. The aim is to equip young talents with the necessary tools to make meaningful contributions to the media sector. The initiative also aligns with the directives of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed to encourage and train a highly efficient and capable national media workforce. The goal is to propel national media to international standards and enable them to keep pace with the global changes in the industry.

The launch of the Emirati Media Talent Pledge initiative was attended by top officials from participating media entities, including TECOM, Asharq News, The National, Sky News Arabia, CNN Business Arabic, Edelman, Gulf News, DIFC, Al Aan TV, Qanawat, Hills Advertising, Al Sayegh Media, Navigation Films, N app, IMI, Al Ain News, APCO, CNN Arabic, Havas, WPP, CNBC Arabia, and ARN. These entities have pledged their support in the first phase of the initiative.

Hesham Al Olama, Director of Strategy and Performance Management at the Dubai Media Council, emphasized the importance of the initiative in discovering, training, and upskilling local media talents. The aim is to prepare the next generation of media professionals and accelerate the growth of Dubai's media sector. The initiative will provide specialized training through intensive courses offered by leading media institutions. The Dubai Media Council will work closely with private sector partners and the academic community to identify the best young talents for professional training or employment opportunities.

The initiative will benefit university students and young people interested in a media career by providing tailored internships and training programs. This will give them hands-on experience and the opportunity to enhance their skills in various aspects of media work. Deserving candidates will have the chance to grow their professional competencies and build rewarding careers in the media industry. The collaborative initiative aims to encourage aspiring media professionals to pursue their dream careers and contribute to the growth of the media landscape in Dubai and beyond.
