Dubai To Host Largest Polished Diamond Auction In History
Dubai is all set to leave the world dumbfounded with the largest auction of polished diamonds in its history, a yet another milestone in the rise of this emirate as a global diamond hub. The Rapaport Diamond Corporation and the DMCC will be bringing together 3,200 lots of polished diamonds, comprising 2,800 single stones and 415 melee lots, weighing more than 50,000 carats in total. This is an unparalleled occurrence that shall testify not only to the brilliance of the stones but also to the rising importance of Dubai in the field of luxury commodities.
Dubai has been synonymous with luxury for a long time, but over the past several years, it has developed another identity: as a major diamond market player. Martin Rapaport, Chairman of the Rapaport Group, expressed the sense that Dubai has risen in status to a large trading center, while he shared his excitement about the sale's emphasis on U.S. recycled diamonds. It would mean access for the international dealer to good-quality stones at competitive prices, and it also solidifies Dubai's commitment to the ethical and sustainable trading of today's diamond industry.

The strategic location, ultra-modern facilities, and strong regulatory environment have combined to give the city a decided advantage in the diamond trade. Sitting squarely in the middle of all that growth is the DMCC, which has been providing a home for the Dubai Diamond Exchange-the DDE-and facilitating billions in trades while setting the stage to establish Dubai as the world's diamond capital.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC, sees this historic auction as much more than an opportunity to present some glittering gems, but a strong step towards making Dubai a leading global diamond trading hub. Dubai's diamond market reached $38.3 billion in trades last year alone, a jump of 32 per cent in polished diamonds. The DMCC's initiatives to provide a platform of transparency, ethics, and the best trading conditions appear to have borne fruit as some of the largest dealers and buyers worldwide join its ranks.

The polished diamond auction will be held at the DMCC's Dubai Diamond Exchange, the glittering heart of Dubai's diamond district in the Almas Tower. The viewing will run from September 22 to September 25, with online bidding right through to the close of the auction on October 1. The tender format is set out over 41 tables, allowing for the most thorough of examinations of each lot, supported with detailed GIA grading reports, images and video scans so every bidder can make sure-footed decisions, no matter where in the world they may be.
This online process expands the reach of this auction in every sense, but it also reflects the imagination and foresight of DMCC in bringing technology that can make buying easier and more accessible to the widest possible audience in the world.
Upcoming Auctions:
Well, that is not all. After this historic sale, a series of single stone auctions will be held in Dubai from October 20-23, November 17-20, and December 15-18. While these auctions will be trade-only events, they also point to Dubai's relentless efforts to win over the polished diamond market.
Rather, it is a display of some of the most magnificent diamonds in the world-a testament to establishing Dubai as a leader in the global diamond trade. From responsible sourcing to technological integration, the emirate is setting new standards. And Dubai, while the world watches in awe, proves that it is not only a place where dreams of luxury come true but also where the future of the diamond trade is being shaped, one glittering stone at a time.
