Dubai Rolls Out Silent Radars. Where to Spot them
Dubai is set to introduce new 'silent' radar cameras to catch drivers committing various traffic violations. These cameras, implemented by Dubai Police, are less conspicuous than traditional speed cameras and monitor more than just speeding.
The grey and black striped poles will reportedly be installed in more residential areas. They aim to encourage better driving practices among motorists.
Enhanced Traffic Monitoring
Named 'silent' because they don't flash when a violation occurs, these cameras will also detect drivers using mobile phones or not wearing seatbelts. Currently, using a handheld mobile while driving can result in an Dhs800 fine and 4 points on your license.

Driving without a seatbelt incurs a Dhs400 fine and 4 points on your license. Exceeding the speed limit by up to 30km per hour could lead to a Dhs300 fine. Exceeding it by up to 60km per hour could result in a Dhs1,500 fine, 6 points on your license, and vehicle confiscation for 15 days.
Technological Advancements
Dubai already employs multiple technologies to detect traffic violations. However, Dubai Police ensures that all footage is double-checked before any fines are issued.
On Monday, July 23, Dubai Police announced the deployment of drones in residential areas to improve emergency response times. In a post on X, they explained that these drones, marked with distinctive blue markings, are part of a broader strategy to enhance emergency services.

The authority stressed that these drones are a proactive measure to protect the community. Additionally, in July, Dubai Police introduced a service allowing residents to request free police patrols around their homes while they are away during the summer.
This preventative security service involves officers patrolling your property to provide peace of mind while you are on holiday.
These initiatives reflect Dubai's commitment to leveraging advanced technology for public safety and improving road discipline among drivers.
