Dubai And Interpol Unite For Youth Leadership In AI Policing
The fourth edition of the Interpol Young Global Police Leaders Programme (YGPLP) commenced with a focus on "Policing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence." Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Acting Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and Jürgen Stock, INTERPOL Secretary-General, were present at the event. The programme is hosted by Dubai Police and INTERPOL at the Officers' Club.
This year's event explores how artificial intelligence can improve police operations, enhance community safety, and combat various crimes. Major General Al Mansoori emphasised Dubai Police's commitment to international cooperation. He stated that the programme aims to advance security, share knowledge, and develop young police leaders through specialised training.

Major General Al Mansoori also highlighted Dubai Police's dedication to providing resources and expertise to support young leaders. He praised the collaboration with INTERPOL and acknowledged the ongoing support from Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.
The programme began with a video presentation reflecting on previous editions. The first edition was held in Dubai in 2019, followed by the second in 2022, and the third in India. Dr. Madan Oberoi, Executive Director of Technology and Innovation at INTERPOL, welcomed participants and reviewed the history of YGPLP. He noted past editions focused on emerging trends and future skills for policing.
Jürgen Stock expressed his pleasure at returning to Dubai, where the YGPLP concept was announced in 2018. He acknowledged significant progress made since then and welcomed young leaders from 34 INTERPOL member countries. Stock stressed AI's importance in modern policing.
Practical Knowledge for Future Leaders
Engineer Major Khalifa Al Room, Vice President of the Dubai Police Young Leaders Council, emphasised practical knowledge and skills' importance in shaping future leaders. He highlighted the council’s commitment to supporting young leaders through initiatives like YGPLP.
Stock outlined how AI enhances law enforcement and public safety. He noted that Dubai Police has integrated AI into 29 administrative processes. Additionally, he mentioned INTERPOL's 2023 guide on responsible AI innovation as a valuable resource for law enforcement agencies worldwide.
The first day concluded with a keynote lecture on future foresight skills. An orientation session with INTERPOL and Dubai Police leaders followed this lecture. Participants also engaged in a brainstorming session on AI's role in policing, criminal misuse, and community engagement.
The four-day event features young police leaders from various countries alongside speakers, specialists, and experts from international organisations. This diverse expertise aims to foster knowledge exchange and develop future-ready police leaders.
