Dubai International Project Management Forum 2024 Opens With Focus On Sustainable Future And Global Collaboration

The 10th Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF) commenced at Madinat Jumeirah, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurated the event, which focuses on a 'Sustainable Future'. Over 3,500 experts and officials from around the world are participating, including ministers and private sector leaders.

Upon arrival, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor was welcomed by Mattar Al Tayer of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). A film showcased Dubai's progress and the forum's significance in global gatherings. Organised by RTA with partners like DEWA and Emaar Properties, the forum highlights Dubai's development under visionary leadership.

Arsène Wenger delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. He shared insights from his football career and leadership experiences at Arsenal. Wenger emphasised how leadership can transform environments and highlighted Arsenal's partnership with Emirates Airline as mutually beneficial.

Wenger reflected on Arsenal's achievements, including three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups. He discussed management strategies that fostered success, such as nurturing young talent and maintaining organisational culture. His philosophy focused on building teams for long-term success.

H.H. Sheikh Mansoor honoured co-hosts like DEWA, Emaar Properties, DP World, and PMI during the event. Strategic sponsors such as Dubai Municipality were also recognised for their support. Platinum sponsors included Dutco and Al Naboodah, while gold sponsors featured Wade Adams Contracting.

The first day included sessions on digital transformation and sustainable cities. Mohamed Alabbar opened with a keynote address followed by a panel on leadership in project management. The panel featured Ike Nwankwo of PMI and Laura Barnard from PMO Strategies.

Other discussions covered future trends in project management and AI integration. Areej Naqshbandi spoke on innovation through PMO communities, while Chris Barton shared insights from founding Shazam. Sessions also explored ESG principles and digital project management.

H.H. Sheikh Mansoor visited a mural depicting DIPMF's evolution over ten years. The mural highlighted milestones like 16,700 participants from 45 countries since 2014. It illustrated the forum's growth in attendance and speakers over time.

Future Projects

Sheikh Mansoor examined a model of the Future Loop project during the event. This initiative aims to make Dubai pedestrian-friendly year-round by enhancing pathways across the emirate. The design includes climate-controlled spaces for continuous pedestrian activity.

The Future Loop connects ten major locations with a bridge featuring commercial spaces to attract private investment through public-private partnerships. The project offers shaded areas to reduce temperatures, improving pedestrian experiences while opening new investment opportunities.

The second day will explore topics like future jobs and digital economy shaping. Speakers include Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Dr. Aisha bin Bishr, an expert in smart city initiatives, and Dr. Stephanie Hare, a technologist researcher.

The forum continues to be a significant platform for discussing innovative project management practices globally while showcasing Dubai's commitment to sustainable development through strategic initiatives like the Future Loop project.
