Dubai International Celebrates A Decade As World's Busiest International Airport
The Airports Council International (ACI) has recently announced the preliminary rankings for the top 10 busiest airports globally in 2023, highlighting significant shifts in the landscape of international air travel. Dubai International (DXB) has proudly maintained its position as the world's busiest airport for international travel for the tenth consecutive year, a testament to its enduring appeal and operational excellence.
Dubai Airports CEO, Paul Griffiths, expressed immense pride in this achievement, emphasizing the airport's decade-long journey of surpassing records and achieving milestones. Griffiths highlighted the collaborative efforts of service partners and sectors within the aviation, travel, and tourism industries that have contributed to DXB's success. He reaffirmed the airport's commitment to maintaining its leading position through innovation and collaboration.

ACI World Director General, Luis Felipe de Oliveira, pointed out that global air travel in 2023 was significantly driven by the international segment. Factors such as China’s reopening and a sustained interest in travel despite economic conditions have played a crucial role. The rankings revealed notable shifts, with Dubai International Airport ascending to second place and Tokyo Haneda International Airport making a remarkable jump to fifth place from sixteenth in 2022. Airports like Istanbul and New Delhi also retained top positions, showcasing their progress since 2019.
The report also shed light on cargo transport's vital role in global commerce, with Hong Kong International Airport leading, followed by Memphis International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Doha International Airport marked its return to the top 10 with significant growth.
