18th Edition Of Dubai International Food Safety Conference To Convene In October 2024
Dubai Municipality has opened registrations for the 18th Dubai International Food Safety Conference. The event, themed ‘Future Foresight in Food Safety,’ will take place from 21st to 23rd October 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). This conference is organised in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), and the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA).
Specialists, academics, experts, and scientific researchers will gather to discuss the latest technologies, innovative strategies, and predictive methodologies in food safety. The event aims to improve proactive measures in food safety by enabling stakeholders to share knowledge and experiences.
Sultan Al-Taher, Director of the Food Safety Department at Dubai Municipality and Chairman of the Organising Committee, highlighted the conference's importance. He stated that it supports Dubai’s efforts to shape the future of food safety. Al-Taher said, "Future Foresight in Food Safety is about proactive identification, evaluation and prioritization of emerging trends and drivers within and around food systems that can have food safety implications. Future foresight measures involve risk estimation process using technology tools, data analytics and horizon scanning and then developing policies to mitigate the identified risks."
The conference will feature a diverse range of international participants from legislative bodies, governmental organisations, private sector institutions, and specialists in food safety, sustainability, and nutrition. It also includes customised programmes for students and young scientists.
Dubai Municipality anticipates over 2,000 specialists and experts from oversight bodies, research centres, local, regional, and global food safety organisations. Companies and institutions from the food sector are also expected to attend.
