The seventh edition of the Dubai International Content Market (DICM) 2024 wrapped up on Wednesday, drawing media and entertainment experts from across the globe. The event saw participation from over 800 professionals representing 50 countries, with 87 exhibitors showcasing their offerings from major media institutions and global distribution companies.

More than 2,500 B2B meetings took place during the event, highlighting the growing interest in collaboration within this crucial sector. These meetings underscored the increasing opportunities for partnerships and investments in media and entertainment.

DICM 2024 Highlights Global Media Collaboration

DICM Talks 2024 played a pivotal role by assembling industry leaders to discuss emerging trends, innovations, and strategies shaping content creation, distribution, and consumption. These discussions provided valuable insights into critical aspects of the industry.

One of the key topics was the influence of Turkish content and international co-productions. Experts explored how these collaborations are opening new avenues for creative growth. Additionally, they examined how streaming platforms are reshaping the MENA region's media landscape.

Amit Devani, Director of Insights at Parrot Analytics, shared transformative trends in global and MENA content markets. He noted a significant increase in demand for animated content since 2021, while interest in action and adventure genres has waned.

The event also featured a special appearance by renowned Turkish actors. This provided a platform for media professionals to exchange ideas and explore new opportunities within the industry.

Cross-Border Collaborations

The importance of cross-border production collaboration was a focal point at DICM. Industry leaders discussed successful strategies for joint productions that transcend geographical boundaries, fostering both creative and commercial growth.

"This sector is one of the fastest-growing and continuously evolving industries," said Ahmed El-Cheikh, Director of Development at France 24. "Therefore, we strive to be an essential part of this unique event dedicated to the Middle East and North Africa region."

The event concluded with several significant deals being finalised, reflecting heightened interest in collaboration within the region's media sectors. DICM continues to serve as a vital platform for networking and exploring new business opportunities in media and entertainment.
