Dubai International Boat Show: 30 Years Of Nautical Excellence And Innovation

The Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, marking three decades as the Middle East's premier yachting event. This year's show, running until March 3 at Dubai Harbour, continues to lead the maritime industry's agenda, showcasing over 200 boats and featuring exhibitors from more than 55 countries, including debut appearances from Austria, Finland, South Korea, and Sweden. Seakeeper's stand is showcasing innovations aimed at enhancing onboard stability, with Director of Sales & Support Ryan Albers emphasizing the importance of reducing boat roll for a more enjoyable boating experience.

Echo Yachts is offering virtual tours of its 84m White Rabbit super-yacht via Meta Quest 3 headsets, while Feadship’s concept yacht Pure features a futuristic, windowless command centre. These innovations reflect a shift in preferences among younger generations towards more immersive and high-tech maritime experiences.

Environmental Focus

Environmental sustainability is a key theme at DIBS 2024. Gulf Craft Group is exploring hydrogen propulsion among other eco-friendly technologies. Chairman Mohammed Alshaali notes that transitioning to greener energy sources is a gradual process but emphasizes the minimal environmental impact of their current operations.

The international nature of DIBS is evident with exhibitors from over 55 countries. The Italian presence is particularly strong this year, with more than a dozen Italian companies showcasing their products.
