Dubai's Terminal 3 Upgrades Showcase Commitment To Aviation Excellence
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, highlighted Dubai's ambition to lead globally in various sectors, especially travel and air transport. He noted that Dubai's capabilities reinforce its status as a key global travel hub, facilitating efficient movement of people and goods worldwide.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasised the need for continuous efforts to maintain top technical readiness at Dubai’s airports. Enhancing service efficiency for customers and travellers across the emirate is crucial. This focus has solidified Dubai’s global leadership in air transport and prepares it for future travel demand growth.
During his visit to Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3, Sheikh Mohammed reviewed ongoing upgrades and amenities. He was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group.
Sheikh Mohammed inspected various projects aimed at improving services at Terminal 3. He reviewed protocols assisting travellers with travel procedures and other services provided at the airport. His Highness also personally examined daily operations in different sections, enquiring about facilities for departing and arriving passengers.
"Dubai International Airport is a cultural interface that reflects our aspirations for the future," said Sheikh Mohammed. "We are constantly working to improve the experience of travellers through the airport and provide the highest levels of excellence in terms of infrastructure, services and advanced technologies to ensure the comfort and safety of travellers."
Leadership Position
Sheikh Mohammed expressed appreciation for Terminal 3's remarkable development across all its facilities, departments, and equipment. This progress reaffirms Dubai’s status as a vital global travel hub. It enhances Dubai International Airport’s reputation for offering top-quality services to international travellers and maintaining its leadership among world airports in international passenger numbers.
Accompanying Sheikh Mohammed on his visit were Lieutenant General Talal Humaid Belhoul, Director-General of the State Security Department in Dubai; Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the General Administration of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai; along with several senior officials.
Record Growth Rates
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed highlighted the exceptional performance of Dubai International Airport. Its continued record growth rates in international passenger numbers embody Sheikh Mohammed’s vision and guidance to keep it a leading global travel hub with excellence and innovation.
"This reflects the ambitious goals included in the Dubai Economic Agenda D33," said Sheikh Ahmed. "It aims to double the size of Dubai’s economy and place it among the top three urban economies globally."
This year saw another significant achievement for Dubai International Airport with its best quarterly performance ever recorded. The airport welcomed 23 million travellers in Q1 2024, marking an 8.4 percent increase compared to last year’s same period.
This achievement underscores the airport’s prominent role as a global aviation hub driving economic growth for Dubai. It also enhances its position as a premier tourist destination worldwide.
