Dubai Humanitarian Partners With DG ECHO To Enhance Global Humanitarian Response Efforts
Dubai Humanitarian and the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) have formalised an agreement to enhance their collaboration in humanitarian logistics, emergency readiness, and response. This agreement was signed during the European Humanitarian Forum in Brussels by Maciej Popowski, DG ECHO's Director-General, and Giuseppe Saba, CEO of Dubai Humanitarian. Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi and Mohamed Al Sahlawi were also present.
The agreement aims to foster closer ties through shared information, coordination, sustainability, and innovation. Both organisations are committed to improving the speed, efficiency, and impact of humanitarian efforts. "This is our shared ambition to enhance the agility, coordination, and sustainability of humanitarian emergency response through partnership," said Saba. He highlighted Dubai Humanitarian's strategic role as a major hub in facilitating timely aid delivery.

Popowski remarked on the significance of this partnership: "This arrangement reflects our shared commitment to more effective and agile humanitarian action. By deepening our cooperation with Dubai Humanitarian, we are investing in faster, more coordinated responses to crises—built on innovation, knowledge exchange, and strategic preparedness. Together, we aim to better serve those most in need, wherever they are." The collaboration will focus on innovative solutions for emergency response across the supply chain.
The arrangement includes plans for joint initiatives aimed at enhancing the management of prepositioned humanitarian aid. Both parties will work together on relief operations and share logistics data to improve emergency responses. They will explore sustainable solutions that can be implemented throughout the entire supply chain.
This agreement also opens doors for sharing best practices related to quality and operational excellence. It sets a foundation for co-developing training programmes that aim to boost local and regional emergency preparedness. These programmes will involve key stakeholders such as academia, disaster management authorities, and private sector entities.
Additionally, coordinated communication efforts will be part of their collaboration to highlight the importance of strong humanitarian systems. By raising awareness about these systems' significance, both organisations aim to strengthen global understanding of coordinated humanitarian efforts.
The partnership between Dubai Humanitarian and DG ECHO signifies a step forward in enhancing global humanitarian operations. Through shared knowledge and resources, they intend to create more effective responses to crises worldwide.
