Dubai Hosts SIGA Asia Launch To Enhance Integrity And Governance In Sports

The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) has achieved a significant milestone by launching the Sport Integrity Forum ASIA – Dubai Chapter. This event took place at ISEZA, located within the International Sports and Entertainment Zone at One Central, Dubai World Trade Centre. The forum was part of the Sport Integrity Action Month and marked the official debut of SIGA ASIA – Chapter Dubai.

ISEZA hosted the event with support from the Dubai Sports Council, further solidifying Dubai's status as a global centre for sport and innovation. The forum's theme, "A New Chapter for Integrity in Asian Sport," brought together leaders from various sectors to discuss pressing issues in global sport, particularly focusing on Asia.

The forum included four high-level panel sessions. These sessions explored how governance, innovation, and technology can help sport adapt to global changes while maintaining its integrity. Discussions also addressed sport's role in promoting environmental responsibility, gender equity, and social inclusion.

One panel session highlighted athletes as advocates for change in sport integrity. Another focused on football development in the Middle East, considering integrity challenges. These discussions aimed to provide insights into future developments in these areas.

A Memorandum of Understanding between SIGA and ISEZA was signed during the event. This agreement reinforces Dubai's leadership role in global sport governance. The establishment of SIGA ASIA follows SIGA's expansion plans announced seven months ago at the Summit on Female Leadership in Sport – Dubai Edition.

Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, Global CEO of SIGA and Chairman and CEO of SIGA ASIA, emphasized the importance of this moment for SIGA and sport integrity in Asia. He stated: "Today, we are not just launching an organization. We are launching a movement."

Vision for Future Development

Medeiros highlighted that SIGA ASIA will serve as a centre of excellence for sport integrity and governance within Asia. He noted that transparency will enhance credibility, which will attract investment and create opportunities for athletes, youth, sports organisations, and communities.

SIGA ASIA's mission aligns with UAE’s Vision 2040, focusing on innovation, inclusion, and sustainable progress. The organisation is committed to fostering ethical leadership and empowering youth and women while ensuring sport remains a driver of health, unity, and excellence.

Damir Valeev, CEO of ISEZA, expressed pride in partnering with SIGA on this initiative. He stated: "ISEZA is proud to partner with SIGA on this important initiative." Valeev emphasized that integrity is crucial for the future of sport.
