Dubai Holding And CDA Unite To Gift Eid Joy To Orphans And Underprivileged Minors
Dubai Holding, a leading global investment company with operations in 31 countries, in collaboration with the Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA), recently hosted a special exhibition aimed at distributing gifts to orphans and underprivileged minors in anticipation of Eid Al Fitr. This event, which took place over two days at the CDA's Al Mizhar Majlis, is part of the 'Gift It Forward' initiative, a joint Ramadan campaign by Dubai Holding and the Community Development Authority.
The exhibition saw participation from CDA employees and volunteers from the ‘Dubai Volunteering Programme’, offering a wide range of Eid supplies, gifts, stationery, and accessories to those registered with the Authority. The initiative successfully catered to around 1,400 beneficiaries, including orphans and minors along with their families, fostering an environment of joy and social cohesion.
Under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, the 'Gift It Forward' initiative is part of the broader #RamadanInDubai campaign. This innovative project focuses on repurposing thousands of new products into meaningful gifts, reflecting Dubai Holding's dedication to social responsibility and sustainable consumption.
Throughout Ramadan, this initiative has repurposed and distributed thousands of new products as special gifts to over 8,000 workers and 1,400 low-income individuals with support from the Community Development Authority. This effort underscores Dubai Holding’s commitment to community welfare and sustainable practices that benefit society and the environment alike.
Hariz Al-Murr bin Hariz, CEO of the Development and Social Development Sector at the Community Development Authority, emphasized the significance of corporate social responsibility in supporting sustainable development initiatives. He highlighted how such collaborative efforts promote unity and compassion while improving the lives of vulnerable community members.
"Distributing gifts to orphans and minors sends a strong message of unity and inclusivity, ensuring that Eid celebrations are inclusive for everyone. Such initiatives are crucial for fostering community integration and empowerment," Bin Hariz remarked.
Huda Buhumaid, Chief Impact Officer at Dubai Holding, shared insights into how the 'Gift It Forward' initiative aligns with their sustainability strategy and commitment to responsible consumption. "Our collaboration with the Community Development Authority has been key in maximizing the reach and impact of this initiative, especially among orphans and minors," Buhumaid stated.
The initiative kicked off at the beginning of Ramadan, drawing over 200 volunteers who assisted in packing and distributing gift packages to workers and families throughout the month. This concerted effort not only brought joy to many but also highlighted the importance of giving back to the community during such a significant time.
