Dubai Health Celebrates Milestone With Over 145 Successful Robotic Surgeries At Dubai Hospital

Dubai Health has achieved over 145 successful robotic surgeries at Dubai Hospital since launching its robotic surgery programme in late 2022. This accomplishment underscores its dedication to integrating cutting-edge medical technologies to enhance patient care and elevate healthcare standards.

Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health, stated, "This marks a milestone in the digital transformation of our healthcare system and reflects our commitment to leveraging advanced medical technologies and solutions that elevate the quality of care, in line with our vision to Advance Health for Humanity."

Dubai Health Marks 145 Robotic Surgeries Milestone

The robotic surgery initiative at Dubai Health spans various specialties, including urology, general surgery, and gynaecology. These procedures employ robotic systems that offer surgeons high-precision, 3D visualisation. Surgeons control the robotic arms through a unit with a magnified viewing screen, enabling precise movements inside the body.

This minimally invasive method involves small incisions rather than one large cut, allowing surgeons to perform intricate operations with enhanced accuracy and control. It also minimises disruption to surrounding tissues, muscles, and organs, reducing infection risks and pain during recovery.

Dr. Yaser AlSaeedi, Head of Urology and Director of the Robotic Surgery programme at Dubai Health, highlighted that robotic surgeries have significantly advanced surgical precision and patient safety. He noted that this approach has led to improved outcomes by reducing blood loss by over 90%, shortening recovery times, and lowering complications and pain.

Dr. AlSaeedi added that all specialised surgeries conducted over the past three years have shown strong clinical results. Hospital stays have decreased from two weeks to less than three days. Training medical staff in robotic surgical systems is crucial for ensuring safe and effective procedures.

Training and Technology Integration

The training programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, equipping practitioners with essential skills for licensing in this advanced technology. This supports its safe and regulated use within the healthcare system.

Dubai Health is committed to enhancing its digital infrastructure across all hospitals and health centres within its academic health system. By prioritising a ‘Patient First’ approach, it equips medical teams with innovative technologies that improve accuracy and safety.

This strategy strengthens Dubai’s reputation as a leader in quality healthcare. Robotic surgeries at Dubai Health represent a significant step forward in using smart technologies in operating rooms.

The integration of these technologies contributes to a more seamless patient journey while solidifying Dubai’s position as a leader in quality healthcare services.
