Dubai Health Launches Comprehensive Framework To Enhance Patient Safety And Care Quality

Dubai Health has embraced the Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Initiative (PSFHI), aligning with World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines to enhance patient safety. This initiative is part of Dubai Health's 'Patient First' commitment, ensuring patient voices are central to care. It aims to improve patient outcomes and foster a collaborative, learning-focused environment for high-quality care.

The PSFHI framework also supports the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which seeks to create a world-class healthcare system with top-tier quality standards. Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health, highlighted the importance of safety culture in achieving exceptional outcomes. He stated that their focus remains on the well-being of patients, with staff committed to providing safe and compassionate care.

Dubai Health Enhances Patient Safety Framework

Dr. Tarek Fathey, Chief Clinical Officer at Dubai Health, emphasised that patient safety is a core principle guiding their decisions. Their values shape daily interactions with patients, students, and communities. Dr. Fathey noted that they aim to set new standards protecting patients while empowering teams to deliver top-quality care.

He further mentioned the initiative's focus on continuous learning and innovation. A world-renowned expert, Professor Charles Vincent from the University of Oxford, will contribute his expertise in December 2024 to bolster this commitment.

Dr. Entesar Alhammadi, Chair of Patient Safety and Quality at Dubai Health, reiterated their dedication to patient safety as foundational. By empowering teams to prioritise safety, they embed a culture where it becomes a shared responsibility. This initiative encourages everyone to contribute towards setting new standards in patient care.

Dr. Sharif expressed gratitude for the dedication shown by physicians, nurses, and team members who consistently go beyond expectations in delivering safe care. Their passion is seen as inspiring and crucial for maintaining high standards in healthcare delivery.

The initiative not only focuses on immediate improvements but also aims for long-term growth in safety practices within Dubai Health's integrated health system. By fostering collaboration and continuous learning among staff, they strive for excellence in patient-centered care.

This comprehensive approach ensures that every level of care within the organisation prioritises safety while aligning with global best practices set by WHO guidelines.
