Dubai Health Celebrates International Nurses Day By Honouring DAISY Award Winners For Excellence

Dubai Health celebrated International Nurses Day by honouring its 4,400 nurses at a ceremony. The event, held at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, recognised 12 DAISY Award winners for their clinical excellence and compassionate care. Over 1,500 nurses from Dubai Health's hospitals and centres attended. The ceremony highlighted the vital role of nurses in delivering quality healthcare across the region.

Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health, expressed gratitude for the nurses' contributions. He stated, "We are grateful for the incredible contributions of our nurses, and to celebrate the DAISY Award winners who exemplify both clinical and human excellence." This commitment to supporting nursing teams aligns with Dubai Health's 'Patient First' approach.

The event also acknowledged GDRFA Dubai's achievement in receiving the Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart Government Flag. Major General Talal Al Shanqeeti represented GDRFA at the ceremony. Dubai Health praised Lieutenant General Mohammed Al Marri and his team for their people-first approach, which aligns with UAE leadership’s vision.

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of GDRFA in Dubai, attended alongside Dr. Amer Sharif and other key figures like Professor Alawi Alsheikh-Ali and Dr. Tarek Fathey. Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration in advancing healthcare standards in Dubai.

Dr. Sharif extended thanks to Lieutenant General Al Marri for recognising the nursing community's efforts. He congratulated him on GDRFA's achievement, emphasising shared goals of excellence and improved quality of life in Dubai.

Investing in Healthcare Talent

Dr. Tarek Fathy highlighted that more than 4,400 nurses now serve across Dubai Health facilities. This includes 16 newly graduated Emirati nurses starting their careers this year. The number of Emirati nurses has increased by 200% since 2022, showcasing a commitment to developing national talent while ensuring high-quality patient care.

This year saw over 1,500 nominations for the DAISY Award within Dubai Health. These awards honour exceptional clinical expertise and dedication to patient-centred care. Additionally, 26 nursing educators were recognised for advancing clinical excellence and workforce development.

Future Aspirations

Dr. Sharif welcomed 16 graduate nurses transitioning into clinical practice at Dubai Health as part of ongoing investment in healthcare talent. He noted pride in naming Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery at MBRU by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as a source of inspiration to strengthen national capacity.

The event underscored Dubai Health's dedication to empowering its nursing workforce while aligning with broader goals of enhancing healthcare quality across the region through strategic partnerships and investments in education.
