Dubai Health Authority's NABIDH Initiative Unifies Over 9.47 Million Patient Records Across Healthcare Facilities

The Dubai Health Authority's (DHA) NABIDH initiative has achieved a major milestone by integrating over 9.47 million patient records and linking more than 1,300 healthcare facilities. With 81% of Dubai's healthcare professionals using the system, NABIDH is revolutionising patient data management and improving healthcare delivery across the Emirate.

NABIDH, which stands for Network & Analysis Backbone for Integrated Dubai Health, is crucial to DHA’s strategy to digitise healthcare services. It ensures each patient has a single, comprehensive electronic medical file accessible across all healthcare providers. This initiative aims to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and offer personalised patient care.

During a recent workshop organised by DHA to discuss the progress of the "Nabidh" platform, Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director General of DHA, emphasised that the Authority draws inspiration from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision. His directives aim to make Dubai the smartest city globally.

DHA co-hosted a workshop with Kyndryl to encourage private sector adoption of this pioneering technology. The event covered topics like enhancing patient outcomes through modern technology and AI in healthcare. His Excellency Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi and senior officials from both government and private sectors attended.

Mona Bajman, CEO of Shared Support Services Sector at DHA, stated that DHA spares no effort in acquiring global smart solutions to support its development projects. These align with Dubai's goals for health sustainability and well-being. She stressed DHA's commitment to strengthening Dubai's healthcare sector through initiatives like "Nabidh."

Technological Integration for Better Outcomes

Dr Mohammad Al Redha, Director of DHA’s Health Informatics and Smart Health Department, elaborated on NABIDH’s expansion: "NABIDH’s expansion to connect over 1,300 facilities and manage 9.47 million records is a notable achievement for Dubai’s digital health ecosystem." He highlighted its integration with the UAE’s Riayati initiative.

Kyndryl plays a key role as a managed infrastructure partner for DHA. It supports NABIDH by managing the infrastructure powering this system. Pieter Bil from Kyndryl stated: "We are honoured to collaborate with DHA in transforming healthcare delivery through NABIDH."

The platform successfully creates a secure environment for exchanging reliable health data between facilities. It enables providers to share and access patients' unified medical records securely from both public and private facilities across Dubai while maintaining high standards of privacy.

Al Ketbi also highlighted the role of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in supporting Dubai’s international position and advancement. He noted that DHA has innovative projects serving digital transformation goals in Dubai, including the rapidly advancing "Nabidh" platform.

The workshop aimed at encouraging private sector adoption while providing an overview of "Nabidh." Discussions included improving patient outcomes through modern technology and AI's role in healthcare.

Pieter Bil added: "By ensuring NABIDH’s secure service, we are helping create a more connected healthcare ecosystem." This collaboration demonstrates their shared vision of an advanced healthcare system for all.

The platform aims to enhance healthcare standards by ensuring effective communication between facilities. It fosters better relationships between professionals and patients while supporting decision-making processes.

Bajman further added that the platform enables secure sharing of health data between facilities across Dubai. It maintains high standards of privacy, accuracy, and speed in accessing patients' unified medical records from both public and private sectors.
