Dubai Government Enhances Digital Payments By Integrating Tabby Into DubaiPay Platform

The Dubai Government, through Digital Dubai and the Department of Finance, has integrated Tabby into DubaiPay. This move allows for deferred payment services around the clock, providing UAE citizens, residents, and visitors with a secure and seamless payment method. By offering flexible installment options, this initiative aims to enhance customer convenience and empower users to manage their financial commitments more effectively.

Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, Director-General of the Government of Dubai’s Department of Finance, highlighted the department's role in advancing Dubai's future strategies. He noted that this aligns with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision to position Dubai as a global hub for business and investment. "The launch of deferred payment services through the DubaiPay platform marks another step toward realising Dubai’s vision of offering innovative solutions that cater to customer needs while supporting the sustainability of public finances," he stated.

This integration adds Tabby to a diverse range of payment methods on the DubaiPay platform. Options now include credit cards, direct debit cards, smart wallets, online banking services, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. This expansion provides individuals and businesses with a broader selection of convenient and secure payment choices. It supports Digital Dubai’s vision to digitise life in the emirate and strengthen its digital economy foundations.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director-General of Digital Dubai, remarked on Tabby's integration as a significant milestone in digital transformation. "Tabby’s integration into the DubaiPay platform marks a significant milestone in our digital transformation journey," he said. This step highlights public-private partnerships' importance in embedding digital transformation as both culture and practice across society.

Matar Al Hemeiri, Chief Executive at Digital Dubai Government Establishment, emphasised digital payments' role in Dubai's economy. Including private sector companies in the DubaiPay system is crucial for strengthening customer confidence in digital payments. "At Digital Dubai, we are committed to encouraging all digital payment solution providers to join DubaiPay," he stated.

The deferred payment services offer numerous societal benefits according to Ahmad Ali Meftah from the Department of Finance. These include increasing financial flexibility for individuals and businesses and enhancing customer experiences with government services. The initiative also supports small enterprises by easing financial burdens and encouraging fee settlements without undue pressure.

Flexible Payment Solutions

Amna Mohamed Bin Lootah from the Department of Finance urged all government customers to use these deferred payment services via DubaiPay. She stressed that this initiative offers flexible and secure payment options. "This initiative is not just an added service; it is a clear demonstration of our commitment to making customers' experiences with the Dubai Government easier and more flexible," she explained.

The installment mechanism works by allowing customers to select their desired service on a provider's website before being redirected to the DubaiPay page. Here they can choose from several payment options including Tabby. After identity verification via a one-time password on Tabby, customers can determine their payment installments over four months.

The comprehensive platform supports various electronic transactions through mobile phones, websites, kiosks, and smart devices while adhering to international standards like PCI DSS and ISO 27001.
