Dubai Games 2025 Commences With Intense Competition In Battle Of Government Category
The sixth edition of DUBAI GAMES 2025 commenced today at Dubai Festival City, showcasing intense competition among teams. Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the event highlights teamwork and competitiveness in the Battle of the Government category for both women and men. Organised with DP World, DAMAC, and Emarat, the tournament runs until 23 February.
Day one saw fierce contests in the Battle of the Government for Women, with 26 teams competing vigorously. Four teams advanced to the finals on 23 February: Ministry of Defence (93.06 points), Ministry of Education (69.31 points), Dubai Police (62.54 points), and Dubai Health (61.03 points). The men's heats also began, testing endurance and strength.

The men's finalists will be revealed on Friday evening, setting up a thrilling final on Sunday. Marwan bin Essa, Director of DUBAI GAMES, praised participants' dedication and enthusiasm. He stated: "DUBAI GAMES 2025 has kicked off with remarkable energy, as teams showcase outstanding teamwork, strategic thinking, and competitiveness."
Khalid Balhoul emphasised international officiating standards: "DUBAI GAMES employs a refereeing system based on the highest global standards to ensure fairness and accuracy." This system evaluates teams on performance, strategy, and capabilities while maintaining transparency through published guidelines.
Aber Abdeen highlighted improved registration processes: "This year, we refined the registration process to offer a seamless experience." Teams can now choose their rounds during registration for flexibility. With these enhancements, 26 women's teams and 84 men's teams joined the Battle of the Government.

This year’s event features 244 teams across categories: 84 in Battle of the Government – Men; 26 in Battle of the Government – Women; 28 in Battle of the Community; 50 in Battle of Cities; plus 56 in Battle of Juniors held earlier at DAMAC HILLS on 8 February.
