Sheikha Latifa Launches Dubai Future Solutions Initiative To Address Global Challenges
The ‘Dubai Future Solutions – Prototypes for Humanity’ initiative was inaugurated by H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. This programme, endorsed by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to foster creativity and innovation to benefit humanity. It is a testament to Dubai's dedication to excellence in addressing global challenges through innovative solutions.
In collaboration with the Dubai Future Foundation, this initiative encourages positive societal change by leveraging projects from university students and academics worldwide. The event showcases 100 top projects that propose practical solutions to pressing global issues. Held alongside the 2024 Dubai Future Forum at the Museum of the Future on 19 and 20 November, it gathers over 2,500 experts and 100 international institutions focused on future foresight and design.
H.H. Sheikha Latifa expressed pride in the initiative's achievements over the past decade, highlighting its role in nurturing innovation for societal benefit. She stated: "Today, we celebrate a decade of innovation – a journey defined by continuing efforts to advance scientific research, mobilise visionary ideas, and transform them into impactful, pioneering solutions to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges."
The initiative has attracted 2,700 applications from more than 800 universities globally. During the event, five outstanding innovators will be recognised with awards totalling AED 360,000 to further their research in critical fields. This recognition aims to support their growth and development from Dubai.
Sheikha Latifa inaugurated the exhibition showcasing groundbreaking innovations in healthcare, energy, society, nature, and data science. These projects contribute to establishing a strong infrastructure that positions Dubai as a global hub for innovation and future opportunities.
A meeting hosted by Sheikha Latifa brought together government officials, decision-makers, investors, entrepreneurs, and pioneers who have advanced innovative concepts. Discussions centred on adopting these creative solutions into successful projects that have a meaningful impact.
Empowering Innovators
Taddeu Baldani Caravieri, Director of the ‘Prototypes for Humanity’ initiative said: "Whilst the Prototypes for Humanity programme has grown significantly over the past ten years, its guiding principle has always been to shine a light and empower the best ideas that help make for a better tomorrow." He expressed delight at having numerous innovators present at the event.
