Dubai Emergency Response Teams Display Exceptional Readiness Amidst Adverse Weather

Dubai's emergency response teams have showcased exceptional readiness in handling the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions, ensuring the safety and security of the emirate's residents. In a concerted effort to manage the impact of heavy rains that recently hit the UAE, Dubai mobilized a significant force comprising 2,300 personnel from various entities. These included Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Police, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment, and Nakheel.

The comprehensive deployment involved over 700 pieces of equipment tailored to address emergency situations effectively. Among these were 250 tankers and 300 rainwater pumps, supplemented by more than 180 emergency vehicles, field survey vehicles, machinery, and other heavy equipment designed to tackle water-logged conditions.

Dubai Teams Ready for Weather Crisis

During this period of heightened activity, Dubai Police played a pivotal role in managing public safety and communications. The force reported receiving a total of 10,232 calls between 06:00 and 15:00 on its emergency and non-emergency hotlines. The majority of these calls, numbering 9,275, were directed to the emergency hotline 999. Meanwhile, the non-emergency hotline 901 received 957 calls. In response to the ongoing weather conditions, Dubai Police has issued advisories urging the public to exercise caution. They emphasized the importance of using the 999 hotline exclusively for emergencies, while recommending the 901 hotline for non-urgent matters.

Furthermore, Dubai Police has issued specific guidance for drivers, advising them to avoid water-logged areas, valleys, and low-lying regions until adverse weather conditions subside. This cautionary advice aims to prevent unnecessary risks to life and property by discouraging public entry into potentially dangerous valleys.

To address the challenges posed by heavy rainfall, Dubai authorities have developed a strategic plan that draws on historical data and statistics from previous rainy seasons. This approach has facilitated pre-emptive planning and scenario building, enabling field teams to maintain smooth traffic flows and promptly resolve issues related to water-logging.

This coordinated effort underscores Dubai's commitment to ensuring public safety through meticulous planning and rapid response capabilities. By leveraging historical insights and deploying a well-equipped workforce, Dubai continues to uphold its reputation for effectively managing emergency situations under challenging weather conditions.
