Dubai Electronic Security Center Recognized By WEF For Enhancing Global Cybersecurity Talent Pool

The World Economic Forum's (WEF) recent report on the Strategic Cybersecurity Talent Framework has commended the Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC) for its significant initiatives. These include the launch of the Dubai Cyber Innovation Park, aimed at empowering future cybersecurity experts.

The DESC’s Cyber Security Competency Framework, known as Qudraat, was also praised. This framework maps all cybersecurity employees in Dubai, linking their assessment and evaluation with training and development.

DESC's efforts are part of its collaboration with WEF and 50 global organisations to build sustainable cybersecurity talent pipelines. The WEF acknowledged DESC’s contributions to its Cybersecurity Skills Gap Initiative, highlighting the team's dedication and expertise.

DESC Praised by WEF for Cyber Talent Boost

The team members, including Dr. Bushra AlBlooshi, Ayesha Mohammad AlMarzooqi, Maitha Khalid Al Muhairi, Shaikha Essa Al Mheiri, Zeina Naser, and Moaza Majed Al Flasi, were recognised for their significant efforts in preparing and launching the framework.

The Strategic Cybersecurity Talent Framework aims to address the global shortage of cybersecurity professionals, estimated at 4 million. It serves as a reference for decision-makers committed to nurturing talent across sectors.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director-General of Digital Dubai, commented on these efforts: "The DESC’s efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at enhancing Dubai’s status as a destination of choice for high-quality talent and a hub for innovation and creativity."

Enhancing Cybersecurity Excellence

Yousuf Hamad Al Shaibani, Head of Cyber Security of Dubai, emphasised the importance of cybersecurity in digital transformation. He stated that DESC is dedicated to making Dubai the safest city in cyberspace by nurturing young talents with essential technological skills.

Dr. Bushra Al Blooshi highlighted the critical global shortage of cybersecurity professionals. She noted that this gap is widening each year as companies increasingly need these skills.

Future Plans and Initiatives

The Cybersecurity Talent Framework focuses on attracting talent by improving understanding of cybersecurity roles and removing entry barriers. It also calls for rethinking hiring practices to address challenges like unrealistic job requirements.

Dr. Bushra Al Blooshi added: "DESC is a major player in global efforts to advance cybersecurity standards. We are proud of the skills of Emirati professionals who contribute to strategic planning and research supporting WEF’s efforts."
