Travel Redefined: Dubai DET And Amadeus To Strengthen City's Tourism Ecosystem

The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has entered into a strategic MoU with Amadeus, a prominent travel technology company. This collaboration aims to establish a city-wide ecosystem for rapid prototyping of travel tech solutions, enhancing Dubai's status as a hub for travel innovation. The partnership seeks to improve visitor experiences and strengthen the city's tourism ecosystem.

Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), part of DET, and Maher Koubaa, EVP Travel Unit and MD EMEA at Amadeus, signed the MoU. This agreement is expected to contribute significantly to achieving the goals outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33. It aims to further solidify Dubai's position as a leading global city for both business and leisure activities.

Dubai DET Partners with Amadeus for Travel Tech

DET and Amadeus have been collaborating across various areas such as Strategic Travel Data and Analytics, Programmatic Travel Advertising, and B2B Travel Marketing. The new MoU provides a framework to expand this cooperation. It also sets the stage for Amadeus to establish a Centre of Excellence in Dubai, focusing on key areas like enhancing traveller experiences through biometrics and optimising airport experiences.

The partnership will support local and global start-ups while improving travel intelligence reporting for hospitality and destinations. "This partnership with Amadeus marks a transformative step in our journey to further consolidate Dubai’s position as a multifaceted innovation hub," said Issam Kazim.

Dubai's business-friendly environment, world-class infrastructure, and strategic location make it an ideal destination for developing advanced travel solutions. By integrating Amadeus’ expertise with Dubai’s robust tourism framework, new opportunities will arise for businesses and startups in Dubai. This will drive economic diversification and sustainable growth.

Maher Koubaa expressed enthusiasm about working with DET: "We are very excited to be working with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism." He highlighted that Amadeus' advanced technology would enable the city to offer more personalised experiences by integrating innovative solutions that contribute to its growth.

This collaboration comes at an important time for the global tourism industry, which increasingly relies on technology to meet changing traveller expectations and streamline operations. It aligns with Dubai’s focus on boosting research and development across key sectors through partnerships between public and private entities.

The partnership supports the D33 Agenda's goals by leveraging innovation to drive economic growth. "This collaboration underscores our shared vision and commitment to fostering a prosperous future for Dubai," added Maher Koubaa. The initiative aims to set new benchmarks for excellence in the travel industry.

The MoU between DET and Amadeus is poised to create significant advancements in travel technology within Dubai. By focusing on enhancing visitor experiences and strengthening the tourism ecosystem, this partnership will play a crucial role in achieving economic growth objectives outlined in the D33 Agenda.
