Dubai Delegation Explores Shenzhen's Investment And Innovation Practices For Economic Growth

A group of Dubai leaders from 14 government bodies is on a strategic visit to Shenzhen. Organised by The Executive Office and Dubai Chambers, this trip aims to learn from advanced facilities and leading Chinese companies. The delegation's focus is on exploring investment, innovation, technology, and urban planning practices. They are meeting officials to discuss collaboration opportunities in artificial intelligence, advanced technology, and smart cities.

The visit seeks to build long-term partnerships with Shenzhen's key institutions. By doing so, it aims to deepen relations between Dubai and China while promoting knowledge exchange and economic cooperation. Attracting multinational corporations, unicorn companies, and high-growth startups from China to Dubai is also a priority. This effort will expand trade and investment opportunities for both regions.

Dubai Delegation Visits Shenzhen for Innovation Insights

Shenzhen is renowned for its innovation and advanced technology. Its strategic location and world-class infrastructure make it a hub for major companies. Dubai’s leadership delegation aims to leverage Shenzhen’s expertise to enhance economic and technological collaboration. During their visit, they toured the Shenzhen Investment Promotion Agency, which aids local and foreign investments through market insights and economic incentives.

The delegation also visited Tencent, a global leader in internet solutions founded in 1998. Tencent has a strong presence in Gulf markets, especially in gaming. The delegation reviewed Tencent’s advancements in artificial intelligence and digital transformation. They also explored China's experience with the WeChat super app for unified service delivery channels.

At the Shenzhen Institute of Urban Planning and Design, the delegation learned about sustainable urban planning. This state-owned consultancy has worked on over 7,000 projects across 400 cities since 1990. It specialises in policy development, urban studies, transport, and infrastructure. The delegation explored the 'Sponge City' model for flood prevention through sustainable design.

The Phoenix Wings Smart Logistics Centre was another stop on their itinerary. This centre integrates artificial intelligence, IoT, and robotics into logistics solutions. The delegation examined Shenzhen’s low-altitude aviation management ecosystem aimed at enhancing logistics efficiency. Discussions included potential applications of these technologies in Dubai.

Exploring Strategic Venues

The visit also included a tour of the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Centre. Covering 1.6 million square metres with 500,000 square metres of exhibition space, it is one of the largest venues globally. Its proximity to Shenzhen International Airport makes it ideal for global trade events. The delegation reviewed its modern facilities to explore collaboration opportunities for hosting international events.

The visiting team comprises representatives from various entities including The Executive Office, Dubai Chambers, Dubai Future Foundation, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Land Department, Digital Dubai among others.

This strategic visit aligns with Dubai’s vision of becoming a global hub for talent and business advancement by learning from Shenzhen's success stories.
