Dubai Customs Hosts Forum To Discuss Future Innovations And Their Impact On Sustainability

The "Future and Impactful Innovations Forum" was hosted by Dubai Customs as part of the UAE Innovates 2025 events. This gathering brought together experts, specialists, and leaders in innovation to explore advancements in future forecasting and institutional innovation. The event took place at the Queen Elizabeth 2 Hotel in Port Rashid.

Mohammed Al Ghaffari, Executive Director of the Human Resources Division at Dubai Customs, delivered a keynote speech. He highlighted the significance of supporting innovation and investing in creative talent. Al Ghaffari stressed that visionary thinking and intelligent transformations are crucial for shaping the future of customs work.

Dubai Customs Forum on Future Innovations

Al Ghaffari emphasised how innovations by Dubai Customs employees have advanced customs processes, positioning the department as a global leader. These efforts contribute to a culture of innovation in government work, enhancing Dubai’s status as a global hub for innovation.

The rapid changes across technological, economic, and social sectors were noted by Al Ghaffari. He stated that innovation is essential to address these challenges. Proactively adopting smart solutions can improve customer service, transparency, and operational efficiency.

Khalid Al Zarooni, Head of Innovation Centre and Future Foresight Team Leader, spoke on strategic thinking's role in achieving institutional transformation. He highlighted innovation's importance in creating efficient and sustainable systems.

Al Zarooni remarked, "We do not simply observe the future from a distance; we delve into its details, anticipate its changes, and turn opportunities into tangible scenarios." He described future foresight as a 'strategic compass’ guiding decision-making today for tomorrow's results.

Dr. Issa Al Bastaki, President of Dubai University, presented on future innovation during the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He discussed digital transformation's major effects on vital sectors and stressed integrating technologies like artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things into business environments for a competitive future.

The forum also included an exhibition showcasing seven initiatives across fields such as economics, security, and technology. These initiatives align with Dubai Customs' strategic vision for development.

Mohammed Al Ghaffari honoured "Ambassadors of the Future" graduates who received global certification in future foresight from the Global Institute of Innovation Management (GIMI). These graduates presented projects focused on customs' future over the next decade.

Dubai Customs recognised its innovators whose ideas have improved institutional performance and enhanced customs services' efficiency. Dr. Ahmad Thougan Al Hindawi discussed innovative leadership methods that enhance organisational resilience during challenges.

Carlos Guevara from Sia Partners delivered a lecture on "Innovation and Institutional Future Foresight." He emphasised fostering an innovative culture within organisations to improve sustainability and competitiveness.

An engaging discussion session featured senior directors from Dubai Customs addressing future challenges and opportunities in customs. They reviewed digital transformation efforts aimed at improving inspection and clearance processes using tools like the risk engine for inspection efficiency.
