Dubai Culture Achieves Double Victory At GovMedia Conference & Awards
The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has secured two prestigious awards at the GovMedia Conference & Awards held in Singapore in June. The Authority was honoured with the ‘Digital Initiative of the Year’ award for its Ramadan Heroes initiative and the ‘Campaign of the Year’ award for the Dubai Calligraphy Biennale, both in the Culture and the Arts category.
These accolades underscore the significant impact of Dubai Culture's initiatives, reflecting its commitment to integrating innovation with heritage. The Authority aims to enrich Dubai's cultural landscape by reaching all segments of society. The Ramadan Heroes initiative, launched in 2020 in collaboration with strategic partners, is a pioneering virtual local charitable project.

This initiative invited community members to contribute by purchasing iftar meals or providing Ramadan boxes filled with food supplies. It continues to promote tolerance within the community, inspiring philanthropists and supporting underprivileged families. The success of the promotional campaign for the inaugural Dubai Calligraphy Biennale highlighted efforts to transform public spaces into immersive calligraphic experiences.
Hala Badri, Director-General of Dubai Culture, emphasised the importance of these awards in showcasing the Authority's efforts to stimulate Dubai’s cultural movement. "Dubai Culture remains committed to its societal and cultural responsibilities, enhancing the quality of life in Dubai while demonstrating Emirati community values," she stated.
Badri added that winning these awards is a testament to Dubai Culture’s initiatives and reflects its excellence on the local stage. The Authority's dedication to improving performance and achieving milestones is unwavering, with a strong focus on fostering a culture of innovation.
Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication at Dubai Culture, noted that these accolades highlight the significance of projects implemented by the Authority. "These awards show the importance of our projects. Through various initiatives and programmes, we aim to embody our cultural mission and activate the local creative movement," she said.
Al Suwaidi pointed out that the Dubai Calligraphy Biennale has positioned Dubai on the global map, showcasing dedication to preserving calligraphy art. Meanwhile, the Ramadan Heroes initiative has made a noticeable difference by emphasising values of giving and tolerance, aligning with Dubai's vision to be a global humanitarian hub.
