Extended Deadline For ‘Burj Rashid’ Exhibition: A Call To UAE Creatives

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), in a significant announcement, has extended the submission deadline for the Burj Rashid exhibition. This event, a collaborative effort with the Dubai World Trade Centre, is set to honor the iconic tower, a beacon of Dubai’s urban development and continuous progress. The revised deadline for submissions is now 30th April 2024, offering Emirati and UAE-based artists, designers, and architects more time to present their applications. These submissions are to be inspired by Burj Rashid, a structure that not only epitomizes Dubai's urban resurgence but also its rich history of development. The tower continues to serve as a crucial center for business and economic activities, showcasing Dubai's capacity to embrace modern changes.

The call for participation is open to creatives from various disciplines, including visual, digital, literary arts, and design. Individuals or groups interested in showcasing their work at this exhibition, supported by the Sikka Platform, are encouraged to apply. The exhibition aims to display a wide array of artistic interpretations of Burj Rashid, marking its 45th anniversary. This landmark is a testament to the visionary leadership of the late Sheikh Rashid, who transformed a once remote location into a bustling hub for business, networking, and trade within the region.

Burj Rashid stands as Dubai's first skyscraper, completed in 1979. It was designed by John R. Harris & Partners and played a pivotal role in establishing the Dubai World Trade Centre as the premier venue for events, exhibitions, and conferences in the emirate. For two decades, it was the tallest building in the region, reaching a height of 149 meters. The tower's image is proudly featured on the AED 100 banknote, symbolizing Dubai's ambitious growth and future aspirations.
